Went to see their Reimagining The Islandmagee Witches: An Interactive Exhibition.

Liked it. I must go back, and take some more time there. They had virtual reality things and more I ran out of time to see everything.

From 1711 the witch trials are a true life tale that has dreadful power in 2023.
People love to gang up, believe total garbage, and literally pillory others for it.

The show has a new animated cartoon version of the story. I liked the artwork. I liked the font on the displays. There are some chilling real-life manacles from the Carrickfergus museum. There's a poem from Whitehead's Adrian Rice. I found Hazel Bruce and Alison Gault's textile artworks strangely haunting.

The show is well worth seeing. You can take part in a computer survey that's gauging reactions. FREE entry. The staff of the museum were there, interesting people to talk to. I'll be back. The show runs until Sat 16th November 2023.

This place is well worth a visit. The permanent museum exhibits include many star items, and they have gallery spaces that host regularly changing shows. One example lately was a Lego exhibition. They had Lego recreations of Coventry’s cathedral, the Angel of the North, Carrickfergus Castle, the Trevi Fountain and many more famous attractions. For fun, characters like Batgirl were in the dioramas as colourful tourists. For the kids there was a supply of jumbo bricks in one corner to have a go with. Go regularly and you can enjoy a great variety of shows and exhibitions.

The place has a great café, toilets, and an information desk with people staffing it. Entry is always free.

I visit here often. The horse-drawn steam-powered fire engine in the museum was a useful example of what was used, unsuccessfully, to tackle fires that Suffragettes caused locally over a century ago. Out in the glass-roofed area I caught the last day of Sinclair Goudie's paintings exhibition; I liked the use of contrast in his work. Shows here come and go, which keeps me coming back. A rubbish sculpture called Messie, the Lough Mess Monster is in the main exhibition room for the next week and a half. Its a tall and striking sea monster filled with rubbish collected by the Whitehead Wombles Juniors from local beaches and parks. The monster is on show in the Quadart group's annual exhibition. The walls and display cabinets have their other artworks. The brush work in Michael Sparkes' acrylics is really impressive. Coming next will be the Carrick Art Club show, I will return to visit that several times. There's a free car park through the other side of the DeCourcey Centre next door. The museum has toilets, and The Glasshouse Bistro is the restaurant inside; I like their food a lot.

The Carrickfergus museum is a tribute to a once prominent town. Sadly those days are gone. The museum is nice but not worth going out of your way to visit.

A great place to visit to see the history of Carrickfergus. Unfortunately you step outside to a run down forgotten town. Sad to see.

the girl was really helpful and friendly here its just such a shame that there are so many empty shops etc in such a lovely town also that the traffic goes through and past the castle so fast you really need to build more on your tourism and the historic aspect of the town,

Stumbled upon this by chance and even though it is quite small there are some genuinely interesting and intriguing historical materials.
