Sandy, the owner was captain, Tony was the Dive Guide. I'm borderline 2/3 for my rating. My wife & I found the team to be not very attentive. Nitrox tanks were tested on the boat by Sandy, results conveyed verbally (not shown to us). Our dive credentials, last dive etc were never checked. No effort was made to distribute weights. As we were readying to dive, I got up and retrieved our weights ... from a VERY limited selection of large, heavy weights. In the end, my wife was heavily over-weighted. As Tony was about to go in the water, he yelled back "got your weights?" -- Yes, no thanks to him. My wife had a hard time clearing her ears on descent. I waited for her as she worked to clear them from 20' to 35'. Five minutes later we were on the wreck ... with Tony and the rest of the divers gone, out of sight, on to the next wreck evidently. We never saw them again on that dive. If you want independent diving with no-one paying attention to you, you might like this operation. Paying for a guided dive, we weren't checked on, much less guided. Fortunately, my wife's and my experience & concern for each other as dive buddies made up for their lack of attention. Second dive was better (I think Tony realized he screwed up on the first one). A lot of boat dives ranging from average to excellent has set our expectations -- Ocean Quest is on the low end of average.

I have dived on this boat many times. The diving is typically good, but the captain and owner (Sandy) has a very short temper and when angry conducts herself in an unprofessional manner. On a dive in July 2022, I accidentally forgot to take my safety marker into the water, and my dive buddy (who also forgot his marker) and I surfaced about a half mile from the boat. We were spearfishing, and 3 sharks were circling, and another boat came by. We were not given instruction prior to this dive on what to do in a situation like this, so we climbed on the other boat and asked them to take us back to the charter. When Sandy realized what happened, she absolutely went ballistic, and lit into us with several four-letter words not fit for this review. When I got back on the dive boat, I apologized and basically just let her keep on yelling at us. I have also seen her on many occasions be very harsh and rude to Vicki, who also serves as a captain on the boat, and sometimes is also a Divemaster in the water with us.
I guess I am a glutton for punishment, because on September 2, I went on her boat again (my wife, who had witnessed the first fiasco, thought I was crazy). On my second dive, I accidentally forgot my surface marker (again). I couldn’t believe I made that mistake again, and I was very upset with myself. I shot a barracuda, intending to eat it, but it turned out it was over 36”, so it would not be good to eat (likely high levels of mercury). It was still a legal fish (as a trophy), but I shot it with the intent of eating it. When I got back to the dock (Sandy was not on the boat that day), she cursed me out again for forgetting my safety sausage a second time and went on and on. It’s not like I didn’t feel bad enough already, and because I had my 4 foot spear gun, the boat was able to find me with no incident. At the time, I just let her rant go.
After thinking about it a day or two, I e-mailed Ocean Quest and told her how I was very disappointed with how she behaved and how I didn’t think it was ever OK to curse a customer out. I even told her that if she had simply said, “Matt, if you do this again, you can’t dive on my boat”, I would have been fine. It was after all my mistake, and a potentially very dangerous one that would put myself at risk. However, when she didn’t even have the courtesy to respond after a couple of days, I decided it was time to write this review. It appears my review has been removed, so I will keep posting it until I receive a simple apology, as I want others to be aware. I have at least 4 dive buddies who likely will not use her again after this latest incident.

Oh Matt,
This review is full of so many exaggerations and lies it's almost comical.
The real reason behind this is that you are an unethical spear fisherman and the day in question you forgot so conveniently to mention the two illegal fish that you and your dive buddy shot. You also forgot to mention that you carry multiple safety sausages and you sent them all up with fish attached and that's why on the first occasion you didn't have a safety sausage for yourself. And the reason you were so far from the boat was because you didn't follow the dive plan that all the other divers easily were able to. I explained to you why it isn't safe for you to board a small boat that isn't equipped with a ladder meant to board divers in gear. I gave you an example of a diver getting a large laceration on his leg. However, again you lack of concern towards your own safety I am not surprised you would tilt the story.
It's simple, our reputation and record speaks for itself, and the reason you were banned from diving our boat is because you fail repetitively to follow our safety protocols, you wanted to argue with my crew members over the fish identification of a illegal sized black grouper you and your buddy brought on the boat! Arguing with my well informed and experienced crew, my "female" crew. I think that is where the issue lies, you aren't used to a female being in charge.
The fact they located you despite not following the dive plan or having your proper safety gear, is a testament to the quality crew that work my boat. And a 4 ft speargun looks nothing like a small stick poking out of the water, and isn't visible from any real distance.
You didn't email me, and you removed your own review once you saw my response! We run a quality operation and our safety record is more important to us than your ego. Good luck diving on the other boats, I hope you can improve yourself in the areas needed and don't die!

I was skeptical doing advance dives with a charter I have never used. prior or had any references from anyone who I personally know who has used Ocean Quest Scuba. Let me tell you one thing! anytime I want to Do any technical diving certifications, or other classes, I will be calling Sandy, Vicky and crew.
My group did 3 boat dives in 3 days with 2 different charters, nothing against the other place, but the other place was too money hungry and too pushy for my liking. we were not charged for anything until we arrived on the boat. the other boat hit my cc as soon as I booked the dives. The crew on Sandy Sunday and Dive masters made the experience even better. I would Highly recommend Ocean quest Scuba to everyone from beginners to advance, epically to those that want to hunt.

Ocean Quest is a great operation! This was my 2nd dive trip with them and I really enjoy the experience they provide. It’s clear they really enjoy what they do, are super knowledgeable about all things scuba, and love to teach newer divers. They’re helpful with anything you need on deck, and make sure to point things out under water that you might otherwise miss. Will definitely dive with them again!

Cannot recommend Sandy and Vicky enough!!!! They are so very personable and informative. We hadn’t dove in a while, and Vicky was so thorough in her explanations and “refreshers.”. We enjoyed them and Tom (a regular on their boat) so much that we went to lunch with them Afterwards. Diving was great- so many sea turtles, a barracuda, and many colorful fish! Thanks, Ocean Quest, we will be back!

I have done some boat dives but Captain Sandy, Captain Vicki and their crew are the best. The crew helped us on and off the boat and helped to switch gear from one tank to the other. Helped us on and off the boat for the dive. (Great Job Baylor!) I began to have problems with my BCD and kept tilting to the left. Capt. Sandi noticed and came right over. She did some adjustments and it was better. Once I got back on the boat she told me I had lost one of my integrated pouches with a 5 lb weight so she took one of my back weights and re-balanced me. Wow she was fast and I didn't even realize what she had done it really made my day how quickly she saw a problem and fixed it.
Great dive with a very active reef. Lots of things to look at. They offer a large range of dives and know the areas the reefs and what type of dive suits you best.
Very knowledgeable captains and crew that really look out for their passengers and you can tell that they really love what they do. I will dive with them again as much as possible!

Captain Sandy and Captain Vicki take us to the best spots every time. Thanks to Ocean Quest, I’ve seen the most amazing sea life and never once worried about my safety. This team looks out for you at all times, and they make sure you see all the good stuff down below. Ocean Quest Scuba Charters is without a doubt the best value on the water in West Palm Beach. You’ll learn a lot and you will have a blast! No way you’ll leave this boat without making at least one new friend - might even be an octopus.

I became certified to dive, however initially didn’t have a lot of friends also certified in the area. A friend took me on ocean quest scuba charters when he was in town and I decided this was the boat for me. They were kind, informative and safe. I began going out with them by myself and developed many friendships since. The boat captains r the best bc they are most knowledgeable about: drop locations, safety procedures, and marine life. I highly recommend their charter!

We booked dive and spearfishing trip for 5/19 & 5/20. I forgot we needed fishing licenses so rushed to get them which was going to make us 10 min late. Insisted my buddy call Ocean Quest since it's courtesy to call. Instead we were told the trip was cancelled due to equipment problems, but they forgot to let us know. 3 day license already bought, already half way to marina, already packed, no trip, no apology. We go next 2 days, everything is fine except lots of current. I'm hunting fish around a wreck, hiding behind the side of the ship in the eddy. I realize I'm alone, let the current take me a ways, but don't see anybody so waste a bunch of air going back to the wreck. A school of Black Drum comes in range so shoot one. Had to surface, but 30" Barracuda wants my fish. Gotta fight that guy off by myself, never mind I wanted my buddy there to shoot it-tasty fish. The crew had dissuaded me from shooting Barracuda as they're poisonous??? All reef fish-Snapper, Grouper, etc. can have toxins, but I guess I got lucky eating 'cuda. Anyway, the crew tells me the Drum is garbage, nobody eats it, wasted my time and all. Nice encouragement. I'm a former guide in Alaska, and lower 48. Never a good idea to talk trash about something legal a client does. Sorry it's getting long, but true stories have to be told as they are. Florida game fish guide lists Black Drum as having bag and possession limit of 5. If nobody wants them, why have a limit? There's a salmon in Alaska folks call Dog or Chum Salmon cause it's widely fed to sled dogs or used as chum. It's not great eating, but not terrible either; it's fun to catch and I'd never demean a client for keeping one. Man, did I lose my taste for my fish AND felt like an idiot to boot. My buddy ditched me and wasn't there to get the 'cuda I really wanted. He also volunteered to tip for me which I purposefully wouldn't have done. The guide-John was helpful aside from the fish. Guest service seems to be somewhat lost on the crew. We did see some huge turtles, lots of sharks, morays and the reefs were better than I'd expected, just was a bit lost in the spearfishing bummer. No other fish worth shooting were found, but we did leave $800 there for 2 half days.
