My boyfriend and I went to the After Dark: Galactic Get Down event tonight and had an awesome time! The electrical show was amazing! We went into the Faraday Cage and it was so cool. The Science Live show was probably my favorite of the three shows that we saw. The experiments were awesome and the two men running it were hilarious! The planetarium show was cool, but I tend to be sensitive to motion, so I unfortunately had to close my eyes for some of it. I would definitely go to an After Dark event at the RMSC again!

It was fun to watch my granddaughter experience such a wide variety of displays. The Planetarium show was good for kids, too. Nice place to get out of the hot and humid climate! Best for families and curious children.

I'm not unrealistic: I expect kids to be at a museum, and for exhibits to appeal to them and not only to adults. However, I found nearly every exhibit geared entirely towards kids, with cartoon-ish presentation and gadgets for them to play with. It made for a lack-luster, downright boring experience for 39 year olds.
Additionally, the campers inundating the place (ages 6-12?) were running and squealing everywhere. Adult supervision was non-existent, so between this and the Sesame Street-style exhibits, we could find the exit fast enough.
Staff member presenting the Tesla coils was dressed like a slob with jeans, a college hoodie, and no name tag. A uniform (khakis and a polo?) would've been nice and added the first example of professionalism we might have witnessed.
I cannot think of any reason to return.

I’m SO glad we decided to go to this museum- it covered science & history in displays which were interactive and hands on - and very fun!
Our party included two 14 year old girls, a 50 & 77 year old. honestly don’t understand how anyone can call this museum ‘boring’ (sorry).
The girls especially liked the exhibits were you got to experience science and engineering ideas- the canal locks & pulleys, making a weather station show.
We were all VERY impressed & intrigued with the the ‘under ground railroad’ & Rochester abolitionist history exhibit. Very moving and intense - as it should be. That alone is a solid reason to visit this museum.
Also huge sections on Native American tribes & the ice age.
This place was so big that we sadly ran out of time and had to give up the last section on the third floor - to get lunch - restaurants a block away!
We spent 2.5 hours, I’d recommend more time if you can manage it, there and there was much more to see! Everyone loved it - don’t miss it!!
I’m SO glad I didn’t heed those negative reviews!

There are lots of activities for active kids, with less for adults here. It's expensive, but we were there for three hours—having fun most of the time. The worst experience was the light and music show, which is frankly boring. But we enjoyed many of the exhibits that explained the history of the area, as well as the interactive ones, such as the hurricane simulation, the under-the-lake sub, and the weather report. There were small fees for some of these.
Is it worth the price of admission? Maybe, since the tickets are costly at $21 for adults, $19 for seniors and college students, and $18 for children, aged 3-18.

expensive, and boring with outdated exhibits. the people who work there are rude, lazy, and uncaring and offer no customer service. it will be a waste of money and time.

We decided to visit the Science Centre and I'm glad we did. We received complimentary admission because we are members of the Ontario Science Centre. The exhibits were well done and although it is smaller than the Ontario Science Centre, there was still lots to do.
My 5yr old enjoyed the interactive exhibit on the main level and the sound exhibit.

Went with my son after a doctors appointment. Was pretty empty there, which was great. Most of the time it’s quite busy while we are there. He enjoys all the hands on activities. The sound exhibit currently there is very good. Always something new to learn at each visit.

They have a cafeteria: lunch area downstairs. I believe you can bring your own lunch in. This museum is big enough to spend a few hours so definitely plan for a break/lunch time
