This was an incredible stop! The place has so much to look at, read, or listen to in the museum. The museum has something for everyone. They have inter active exhibits. They have a place for kids to put on jacket and take pic. They have tons to read for my husband and video for me. Nice small museum gift shop with books from area authors/ topics and other items for all. They have outdoor exhibits so kids can run around. We saw someone giving their dog a walk on the large grassy area. Just an hour outside of the DFW metroplex it was a perfect stop.

My husband grew up watching old Audie Murphy movies with his Dad.... so this was a place he wanted to see. Very nice museum with lots of memorabilia and also a lot of info on the Cotton industry. A couple of old restored buildings on the outer property and the tour guide was very informative.

Well worth seeing the monument to Veterans of wars at entrance as well.... with the Audie Murphy statue.

This museum is well-worth a visit. Undoubtedly, it may seem to be a small place. However, it has a lot of information and artifacts about Audie Murphy, a hero of WWII and film star. The statue of him is beautiful. Also, it gives information about other topics related to this area of Texas. I highly recommend this place.

Audie Murphy is one of my boyhood heroes. We made it a point to drive through Greenville so we could stop by this museum. While I greatly enjoyed seeing the memorabilia and exhibits about him they are only a small part of this museum. The Cotton Museum is interesting. Much of the museum covered local history. I liked the way they portrayed the 1920s. They had an area that was built like shop fronts. You pressed a button and the first shop lit up and verbally described what everything was, what it was used for and how much it cost. Then the next shop would light up and do the same. They had shops for lady’s clothing, a beauty parlor, a drug store and others. Very well done.

My favorite parts were the really odd and unique bits of history about Hunt County - giants, hair wreath, wooden leg, baseball autographed by June Alyson, and more! Well worth the stop along I-30 while in Greenville.

The museum covers three related areas:

- the history of Hunt County including vignettes of famous residents from diplomats to professional athletes to performers with Barnum & Bailey Circus.

- the history of the cotton industry that was important to the region including a cotton gin and equipment used to grade and pack the cotton for shipment.

- the history of of Audie Murphy and a broader focus on all US wars. A very complete history of Murphy’s life and exploits with a focus on the medals he earned with an explanation of each.

The presentations are first rate with complete explanations of all items and many multimedia features.

$6 adult admission with a $2 discount for veterans and seniors. Nice gift shop with a wide selection of books and movies. Well worth a stop!

Fantastic! Fantastic! Fantastic! That is all I can say..want to go back!!!! And probably will this winter ;)
Very special place that lends a glimpse into the life of not only a hero that needs to be remembered but into the lives of the people during that piece of history!
What a privilege to be able to walk thru this incredible place that I have told all who will listen about :)
Please go to this place of honor , take the time to read and closely study all the displays and pictures.....spend some $ in the gift store and continue to keep the memory of Audie Murphy alive!

This museum is a hidden gem just off of I-30 in Greenville. Interesting interactive displays with emphasis on the local cotton history. Plus great information on Audie Murpy - the most decorated soldier of WWII.

My husband and I really enjoyed this museum! It's very well organized and full of various cotton artifacts, doctor/banker/fashion memorabilia, and of course lots of Audie Murphy items. They have several neat areas set up throughout the museum that depict a bank, doctor's office, hair salon, soda parlor, dress shop, war tunnel, war bunker, doctor's buggy, sharecropper shack, cotton generators, and guns/knifes. For a small fee of $6.00 per person, you can step back in time and reminisce about the good old days of yesteryear.

This is a very interesting little museum & well worth a visit. The film is short but interesting. My dad loved Audie Murphy, as I guess most of his generation did. There is a tribute wall to those currently serving from this area. The statue outside is impressive. There’s also a geocache. I’m very glad we stopped.
