We are return customers. 6 years ago we did the Family Explorer trip and had a wonderful trip. This year we returned with another family and did the Mountains and Glaciers trip. In total there were 5 Boys ranging from 14 to 18 and the trip did not disappoint. Highlights included the Cessna plane trip, the glacier kayak, the ice climb, and the camping. The hikes were incredible. Ray was an excellent guide, and we enjoyed our time with him. It will always rank as one of our best vacations.

On July 20-July 31, 2022 my wife and son and I joined two other intrepid travelers from NYC, and our guide Nicole. What a wonderful adventure! These are active trips (it’s called Get Up and Go for a reason) but this is why you come to Alaska—to see and experience this spectacular state. Wonderful daily hikes—some short, some long, some challenging some, leisurely but always beautiful and rewarding. But this trip goes further—much further—white water rafting, bush plane flying, glacier trekking, ice climbing, glacier Moulin exploring, canoeing, kayaking the list goes on. The state of Alaska delivers! But ultimately it is the quality of the fellow travelers and the guide that distinguishes the trip. I had done this same trip in 2014 with my eldest son. That trip was just as wonderful and was the reason I came back with my youngest and my wife. This trip like that one, we left with new friends—Brenna, Katie and our guide Nicole. Ultimately, traveling is about the experience. The experience is so much better with enthusiastic, friendly, and determined fellow travelers. We learned, laughed, enjoyed and encouraged each other. Finally, there was our guide Nicole—expert, friendly, prepared, adaptable…oh, and yeah totally bad ass. :) She’s in shape and can climb but lots of fun! She took care of us and watched out for us.

If you want fun and adventure in the great State of Alaska, Get Up and Go is the outfit. They know how to do this and have been at it for a long time. Their people are the best and the trips are well organized. What is promised is delivered! Ask for Nicole, you won’t be disappointed but no doubt all of their guides are great.

Get Up and Go Tours was one of the best family travel experiences we have had. My husband and I did the family adventure tour with our 11 and 13 year old. The planning was meticulous and the guide, Ray, was accommodating, great company, and a great chef! Geoff matched us with a family that had kids our kids’ age and we all had fun. I highly recommend this to all families who are looking to travel to Alaska and see and experience all the great things without the challenge of scheduling around busy summer tourism demands.

Great trip. Beautiful sights, fun hikes. Amazing guide in Nicole- knowledgeable, fun and great cook. Food was delicious and the accommodations were perfect. This trip was the Mountain & Glacier itinerary but I wouldn't hesitate to try any other option with Get Up & Go Tours in the future.

The Get Up and Go Mountains and Glaciers Expedition was a life changing trip for me. It was my first solo travel experience and I couldn't have asked for a better way to travel. Nicole was so knowledgeable about the places we were going and provided such a great energy the entire time. All her hard work she puts into the meals and getting us places safely showed. I can't wait to take another tour with Get Up and Go!

The trip represented a perfect mix among activities and between activities and driving. The trip was well balanced between being on our feet and being on the water and between doing something active versus riding in the car. Even on the days with lots of driving, there were plenty of stops to take a short walk to see something amazing that made the time go quickly. We have had some prior negative experiences with both white water rafting and canoeing, so we were not necessarily looking forward to the water sports portion of the trip, but they turned out to be the high points. Sea kayaking to the Columbia glacier was so magnificent! I think everyone on our trip agreed that you should simply build that into the price of the trip and include it as the standard default
option for the day in Valdez. Seeing the glacier from the water, while hearing the rumble of thunder from the calving pieces of ice and feeling the swell on the water minutes later, was special. Unlike most of the others in our group, we also really enjoyed our paddle down the Maclaren River. Having a good strong current made the paddling effortless, and the scenery, in the late afternoon light, was lovely. The itinerary also provided a nice balance between seeing a few different parts of Alaska and being able to stay more than one night in any given place. It allowed us to relax without having to pack up each day (and provided some opportunities to wash out clothes in the sink and make sure they were dry by the time we moved onto the next spot). Including McCarthy and Wrangell-St. Elias National Park makes your tour particularly unique and special, and the plane flight from Chitina into McCarthy was magical.

Fiancée and I went on the Mountains and Glaciers tour. My goal was to experience the mountains and glaciers of Alaska up close, in a way you can't get from an excursion on a cruise ship. I wasn't disappointed. Geoff did a great job planning this tour - we got to squeeze a bunch of activities into each day. Those there was some travelling in the van, but most of the time was out doing things.
Ray was our guide - he went above and beyond to make this tour special. Great hikes. The meals were planned and prepared with a lot of forethought to our dietary needs (much appreciated) and tasted great. Enjoyed the conversation on the trails. Ray made sure we were prepared for the day's events - what to expect, what to wear etc.
My fiancée enjoys camping and doing outdoorsy things much more than I do, but we both enjoyed the adventure. Though between you and me, I welcomed staying in the cabins for the 3 nights at McCarthy. The joy of a hot shower!
100% recommend Get up and Go!

I can't say enough good things about our experience with Get Up & Go. They planned it all perfectly. We went on the Adventure tour. Camping out, canoeing, white water rafting and some of the most breathtaking hikes ever. You didn't need to be super fit (I am in my 50's and feeling it some days) but you had to be up for heading out and going for it. Each day was a trip into the wild and the nights around the fire, and then late night card games. Brilliant fun.
I went with my son and we joined a small group of 9 that was just the right size and just the right mix. Truly Geoff has a way of match making personalities and advised us on which tour to go on based on our experience hiking and also by the other people he had joining the tour. Smart Geoff.
Everyone had a brilliant time. Our guide Ray was exceptional, knowledgable and an amazing cook to boot who clearly loved cooking out in the wild.
We all pitched in to help clean up, and clear up, which was also fun and keeps you warm on cold nights/mornings.
Seeing Alaska by getting off a cruise ship is not our idea of seeing Alaska. But going in deeper into the wild, with a guide to guide you... perfect.
Oh, and the weather was BEYOND brilliant. I don't know how they did that, but we had nearly a full week of perfect sunshine in September.

I took the 10 day explorer tour mid August 2021 and I still feel profoundly grateful to have been able to enjoy these gorgeous Alaskan places, with all these fun activities, this year with Get up and Go!, and Jeannie as my expert guides.

It was a most beautifully designed itinerary, and Jeannie's attention to detail as a guide is unparalleled. She goes above and beyond to make sure everyone can relax fully into the experiences and feels totally cared for -- bagged lunches included!

Get up and Go Tours are true journeymen and advocates of sustainable adventure travel. Unfortunately, a lot of 'adventure travel tour' companies only offer raodtrips where you spend long days in a van, driving from one location to another. That's a nightmare for the active and adventurous traveller like myself! Get Up and Go! Tours most definitely fulfilled their promise of offering 'Active, Informative, Fun' Alaska Multi-Sport / Hiking, and Family Adventure Tours. Companies like theirs, give us all hope for a fun and adventurous future in domestic travel!

Best way to see Alaska!
Geoff and his team provide a well planned trip with a good pace.
Took the Aug 2021 Alaska Ranger trip with them. Our guide Ray was excellent. He took care of the group and accommodated all our asks. We were also very lucky to experience his tasty and gourmet meals.
Geoff was quick to respond on all questions and the trip is as described in the brouchre. The team took precautions for COVID, which was very helpful.
The campsites were awesome and at no point we felt rushed. We had plenty of time to enjoy Alaska’s beautiful outdoors.

Thank you to Getup and go tours, that my first Alaska experience was so positive.
Definitely recommend this reliable and brilliant team for an Alaska trip ( or two).
