We had a brilliant tour here today. Our guide, Dan was very informative and the history of the jail was fascinating. Jade in the gift shop was lovely too. We had our dog Isambard with us, and he was made to feel very welcome too. The only thing I would say is that parking is a bit of an issue nearby. The car park opposite was full and on street parking is an issue nearby. There is plenty of parking in the town itself, just be aware that it you rock up five minutes before your tour is due to start, you may have an issue. All in all, a fabulous afternoon . Thoroughly recommend this attraction

I honestly didn't realise how interesting a visit around a prison would be!
Michael, our guide was absolutely brilliant - he was informative, listened to questions and was able to answer with great enthusiasm.
He even spent time with us at the end to tell us a bit more about the ghosts!
We are really pleased we paid the small amount extra for the guided tour as it really opened up your thoughts and brought the visit to life.

I visited with my psychology class and we had a great guide called Mick. We got to see all the different parts of the prison and the tour was very interesting. Only one group (my group!) managed to escape from the escape room. We could have stayed longer to look at some of the areas again and visit the haunted cells. I would really recommend going here, it’s a great experience and the staff are lovely.

Really fascinating and well preserved site. Had a guided Tour with Michael who was friendly, knowledgeable and made the tour even more interesting.
Couldn’t recommend him enough!
Sharon on Reception was also very welcoming and friendly, can’t wait to return to do the escape rooms! 👍🏻😊

This was was an excellent experience and one I would strongly recommend.
Donna was a very informative guide, who was clearly very knowledgeable, and who shared that knowledge in a way that had us all captivated throughout the 1.5 hours that we were in her company.
Both my husband and I learned so much about the prison, and what life was like for prisoners, and how it changed over the years.
This is not a cheap experience, but one that we feel very happy to recommend!
Donna was a very informative guide, who was clearly very knowledgeable, and who shared that knowledge in a way that had us all captivated throughout the 1.5 hours that we were in her company.
Both my husband and I learned so much about the prison, and what life was like for prisoners, and how it changed over the years.

Myself and husband enjoyed a night ghost hunting. It was a very interesting night and we encountered a few unexplained things going on. The tour was brilliant and very informative, this was our very first “genuine” ghost tour without actors and we have fallen in love with the whole experience of ghost haunting.
My advice is if you do the sleepover, definitely take warm blankets! We were emailed that it would get chilly but didn’t realise how cold it would be.

Graham the tour guide was brilliant as he had a lengthy time in the prison service he explained everything in great depth and gave us a fantastic insight what prison life was actually like so thankyou Graham you was amazing.

Went on the prison tour. Very informative and thought provoking. Really don't want to return as an inmate! Donna was a great host and brought the prison experience to life. Everyone should go to understand what it is like.

We did the guided tour which involves going up and down quite steep metal stairs. Maybe just doing the ground floor would be OK for a wheelchair but I feel you would miss a lot. Hope that helps.

I can see I can buy a disabled ticket but does this one ticket include my carer or do I need a separate ticket? In essence do I just buy 1 ticket?
