Extraordinary private tour because Villi is gracious, enthusiastic and generous in sharing his love for and the beauty of his country. He answered our questions with personal insights/experiences and Icelandic childhood stories that he grew up with. It’s like touring with a lovable Icelandic family friend!
My family of four (2 girls of college & high school ages) adored Villi and we enjoyed lots of laughs with him during a beautiful sunny day of touring the south coast. Villi expertly planned the route so we could successfully see two different waterfalls with rainbows (when the sunlight hits them at a certain part of the day) and we still had a good amount of time at Vik black sand beach. He also had well-timed breaks for restroom and good food. The biggest bonus was Villi taking us to see the puffins in their natural habitat…not to be missed and Villi knows how to find them if in season! We watched lots of puffins coming and going to their nests on the cliff and we were incredibly close to one nest that was only about a foot away from us…magical!

Villi is the premier Icelandic tour guide. His insider knowledge of the island is perfect for avoiding tourist traps, and he is also incredibly kind and eager to share the awesome culture of Iceland.
We spent the day exploring the Southwestern coast in an incredibly comfortable LR Discovery, seeing a variety of beautiful sights and we even did some off-roading!

This was a fantastic tour with Gulla. Prompt pick-up from our hotel, a quick outline of the plans for the day, a comfortable vehicle with lots of room, and timely stops for stretching our legs. She is incredibly knowledgeable about the South Coast, and planned our day to avoid the large crowds. We were able to enjoy and experience the rugged beauty of the area. Her English is excellent, and she shared her love and insight of her country. Highly recommended.

This was a wonderful experience. Villi is a wonderful guide, informative without being overbearing. It was like spending a day with an old friend. We had previously been to Iceland and done the Golden circle, so we did this South coast trip. Lots of waterfalls and the black sand beach where we saw puffins. There is some great scenery to see. Villi makes everything as accommodating as possible. The transportation is top notch. He went above and beyond for us. We had dinner plans at a restaurant that is a bit hard to find so he showed us where the restaurant is before dropping us off. He also showed us where our cruise leaves from the next day. He told us Puffin Travel is the smallest tour company in Iceland but they try to be the best. They are succeeding! Sometimes the best things do come in small packages.

This is not just a tour, but more like a road trip with a close friend who knows all the secret cool spots. Villi is the best; great sense of humor, has a long history in Iceland so has great stories and knows all the points of interest. He loves his country and in the process you fall in love with the country too. If you have to make a decision to upgrade your travel experience in Iceland, go with Puffin. It's unforgettable and so, so much fun!

My friends and I had an absolutely fantastic tour with Villi, and I can't recommend Puffin Travel enough. We started the day with some ideas of the sights we wanted to see, and Villi did a phenomenal job of making sure we got the most out of the tour. He was even able to get us into a glacier hike group at the last minute, which was unbelievably lucky and really made the day. All in all, we couldn't imagine a better tour guide. He was easy to work with, incredibly knowledgable and great company. We will definitely book with Puffin Travel on our next trip.

Villi was an excellent tour guide. We left it to him to show us the best sights of his country and he delivered. We visited three waterfalls (including one you could walk behind and one with no other tourists), a black sandy beach, a lighthouse with puffins and panoramic views, Vik village for lunch and up to the start of a glacier.
The big wheeled Land Rover gave us all great views and Villi used a PA system so we could all hear his interesting commentary. He made sure we had ample stops for comfort breaks and to get refreshments and snacks.
At all times Villi was great fun, knowledgeable and managed to fit in far more than we expected.
This tour was the highlight of our week in Iceland and we hope to book Puffin Travel for any future visits.
