This was a really excellent trip, Clare was a very professional and friendly instructor and canoeing over the aqueduct was an amazing experiance.

This canoeing experience over the aquaduct was the highlight of our trip. We loved it. It was very reasonably priced and we enjoyed the freedom to paddle at our own pace.

Took my 2 daughters (16 and 13) yesterday and we had an absolutely brilliant day. The instructors are excellent, with a short key briefing on all you need to know to master the laws and etiquette of the waterways (drive on the right).
Very quickly you are onto the Aquaduct and the views are great. The weather was excellent and we stopped off half-way, pulled the lightweight canoe up the bank and had a picnic. We will definitely return.
TNR are brilliant, booking was easy, the instructions were great and easy to follow as to locating the meeting point and rules of the waterways. I have seen other providers at 3x the price of what we paid. Our fee was a bargain for 3 hours canoeing.

I hired a canoe for 3 hours. My 10 yr old twins and I all went in one canoe and there was plenty of space. If you take a bag, take a waterproof one as the bottom of the canoe gets wet from water dripping off of the paddles. The aquaduct is about 10-15 mins paddling from the start point. The canal is very busy with other canoes, barges and we had to wait about 10 minutes to cross. On the other side of the aquaduct is a coffee shop and some toilets if you want to stop. Overall it was a lovely fun day. 3 hours is plenty long enough.

This trip is an exciting way to spend a morning. The views from the aqueduct were amazing and the calm waters made for a relaxing trip. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for their next adventure in Wales!

Great canoe experience in beautiful countryside….. wet day when we did ours, we had waterproofs with us, so no problem but you definitely need to be prepared for the great British weather!
Good briefing from the instructor and then off we went. We had previous experience but if you’re an absolute beginner it’s no problem. If you enjoy being around canals, boats and amazing scenery you’ll enjoy this.
One note is that the trip advisor instructions weren’t 100% accurate as they said to meet at 1 Gate Road whereas this is the address where you park and you need to walk up the road 100 metres to the canal side.

We hired 3 canoes for 3 hours and did a self guided canoe over the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and surrounding canals.
Everything from the booking to getting the equipment, safety talk and helpful advice was excellent. TNR Outdoor staff we helpful and friendly. We had a fantastic time canoeing and all of us loved the aqueduct.
I would recommend TNR outdoors and we would definitely use them again.

Such a lovely experience for the whole family! Friendly staff and after a quick safety and instructions briefing we were off!
Some things to consider (and what we’d take account of next time we do this!). Crossing the aqueduct can take a while as you give way to any traffic coming the other way. We had a 20 minute wait or so before we could paddle across. I understand the wait can be much longer sometimes. Made no odds to me but the kids were restless so handy to forewarn any younger ones! My other tip is to put things in waterproof bags. My back pack is water resistant but it got lots of water dripped on it from the paddles and it and the contents were pretty soggy afterwards!
Lovely mornings activity nevertheless even in the short rain shower. We’d definitely do it again 👍🏻

From booking to pre-visit communication, I knew TNR would deliver! We were met by two friendly instructors who gave us a brief on routes, safety and canal etiquette. All kitted up, we set off over the aqueduct and headed along the canal. We bumped into our instructors who were with another group, said a hello and they gave us some tips (so we stopped for an ice cream in the basin and watch the world go by). I have been with TNR previously, hence why I booked again. Very professional, not too serious and really nice crew. Thank you again. We loved it!
