As always, it was great to see the seals, on this occasion there were hundreds on the beach.
Two downsides; the car park is now £4.00 minimum, and the beach experience was spoiled by a number of self appointed “Seal Wardens” ordering visitors to keep moving, stand there, do this, do that etc, all unnecessarily. Redeployed covid mask marshalls one suspects.

Stunning, lived in Norfolk all my life and never been, so took a drive over. It was very busy but the wardens were on hand to ensure people stayed at suitable distance . The seals were simply amazing - it was great to see them in their natural habitat. A lovely friendly atmosphere and very family and dog friendly. (Dogs have to be on leads) a very special day out x

Beautiful scenic beach with good parking and stewardship. Well sign posted area and very quickly you are observing the seals from a respectable distance. Nice walk as well with stunning views.

Really well organised by courteous and helpful volunteers. We had a short walk up over a sand dune to the viewing areas for the seals. We could immediately see them basking on the beach and young pups trying to swim. The weather was horrendous but it was magical to see the seals, well worth the visit.

We were up in Norfolk for a football away day over the festive period, so decided to make a specific trip to Horsey beach to see the seals on recommendation from a friend.
Despite visiting the area many times (many years ago now), I never knew this was a thing.
I am so pleased we decided to visit as it was a great experience. We went on a Saturday around noon, the area was busy but well signposted. We had to park in an overflow car park (£4 on exit at the gate) and was able to walk the 400 metres or so to the sand dunes from which you could see the beach below and several seals (babies and adults).
The area was neatly cordoned off to stop people getting onto the beach, and guides/volunteers were positioned along the top willing to answer questions and offer information. There are portable stalls selling food and hot drinks in the car parks.
There was also a collection point for donations of money to help the volunteers who look after sick and injured seals throughout the year which we were happy to contribute to!
What a lovely sight to see these wonderful creatures undisturbed in their natural habitat.

Lovely trip to see the seal colony, well organised route to walk around plenty of space to stop and seal watch and take photos, was really magical and brought our dog on his lead

My family and I came to Norfolk for a holiday and thought while we were here we would experience one of Englands most famous beaches. And we were not disappointed!
There are lots of precautions taken by those who work/volunteer at the beach, to ensure that the seals are safe and that the public are safe from the seals.
As we went in December we were not allowed on the beach because the seals were breeding however during the summer we were told that we would be able to walk on the beach past them. However we still got pretty close to them even though the hills were fenced off. There was 100s maybe 1000s of seals across the stretch of the beach and we really enjoyed seeing all the wildlife.
As for my younger brother, while walking down there were some fun facts about seals which he really enjoyed reading out to the family. This kept him very entertained.
It was an amazing experience, and it was a great way to spend some time with family and all we had to pay for was parking. It’s a must do if you’re looking for a cheap day out in Norfolk.

Our rental cottage said go and see the seals at Horsea, it's pupping season so off we went, and found a full on manned car park chokka with people and seal info. The board said that there were in the region of 6000 seals on the beach and 650 pups born that week. I'd expected a couple of seals mooching about on the beach, but OMG, the beach was covered along the coast as far as the eye could see!!! What a fantastic experience to see this in the UK. They come every year to pup. Some pups that looked a bit yellow had clearly just been born and evidence of this was the blood on the sand. The seals were basking on the sand and in the sea. You view them from the sand dunes above so they are safe. Car park is about £3.50 no campers allowed, - it was a great morning out.

My family and I visited horsey beach a couple of days ago (first weekend of December) we were amazed to see seals and their pups for as far as the eye could see. Every single beach was home to seal mums and their babies.
You can’t walk on the beach at this time of year to protect the seals however you can see them from the coastal walkway above…
There is a reasonably priced pay and display car park with an Information stand manned by volunteers.
So glad we got to see this on our latest trip to Norfolk!

Is it easier to walk along the beach or dunes to get to seals
In sept? Will have a baby in a carrier. Thanks

You should park at Horsey Windmill and then there is a path to the beach
You will need to go through the gap in dunes which would be difficult with a push chair though

There are steps/a big incline and decline to access the beach from the car park so I think you’d struggle to get a wheelchair across it, especially with the sand. I’m not sure if there’s another access point, sorry.

We are planning to visit around July 10th are there likely to be seals on the beach? What is the best time of day to see them?
Escrita el 27 de junio de 2020
We went Sept and from the car park at Horsey Gap we could only see seals in the water but we walked for about 10 mins to the right and there were HUNDREDS on the beach. So glad we walked further. Nearly missed out on an amazing sight.

It's outside the pupping season but imagine there will be some adult ones there.
