17 mile beach was one of the stops on our Barbuda Express day tour and we had no idea we would be visiting so didn't quite come prepared. Had time for a quick wander or swim and to appreciate the really pink sand, made from tiny pink shells. It was really quite spectacular.

Just to clear up some confusion, this is the true “PINK SAND” beach. Go with a local Solomon who owns his boat. He will teach you that the pink sand is up north on this beach near the frigate bird sanctuary. Small amounts in May, much more sand in oct-Jan. You can see my pics. A good amount of pink sand on this stretch. A must see beach.

A must do if you visit Antigua! Barbuda has the most beautiful beach, you'll hardly see anyone even peak season.

This is THE beach you will escape to on cold, snowy days. As far as you can see of the softest sand beach and turquoise blue water. Only thing better than enjoying pictures and videos of this location is to visit and enjoy it first hand.

We anchored here good holding and great views. The beach bar to the north was no welcoming guests as it is more of an excluded resort for foreigners.

Perfectly private! we loved having the entire bay to ourselves pretty much both times we sailed up to Barbuda from Antigua! You can walk for hours along completely unspoiled flour like sand beaches, and not see another person or be at all disturbed. So private, and perfect! A must see for any beach lover!!

I have been to 7 Mile Beach in Grand Cayman, CI but this beautiful sandy beach stretch is something else! What makes it really unique is the fact that just a 1m walk you can be on the "other side" of the beach facing the "lagoon" alike of the Barbuda with it's much darker/grimmer looking like waters where the boats take you to the Frigate Bird Sanctuary.
TIP: Absolutely a must, the boat ride is about 1.5H long and I want to say after experiencing harsh waters around Curacao and similar length of boat ride this one was fairly easy on my stomach! (2nd longer boat ride of my life just to be exact). However, if you have a very light stomach you may want to get yourself prepared in advance.
TIP: Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen! There is no shade at all on the this beautiful beach, and no vendors etc. it's basically a deserted stretch of amazingly fluffy sands (yes, the sand is quite spongy/fluffy for some reason, never seen it like this before)
TIP: It's not a snorkeling beach/waters so you keep leave the masks behind and save on the weight of your backpack, the waters are beautiful but you can't really see anything through them, plus there is no fish/bottom life in there to really check out while snorkeling from my own experience

This is one of the most amazing beaches in the Caribbean. 17 miles of the softest sand you can ever walked on. If you are visiting by yacht...anchor at Cocoa point and just walk for miles and miles (note it is a beach landing), and time it with sunset and you will usually get a spectacular one. If you are going to Barbuda for a day trip head this way, but bring food and drink with you as there is nowhere to buy anything.

Après avoir traversé la lagune en bateau, on accède à ce magnifique cordon de sable au bord d'un lagon aux eaux turquoises.

Hello Jerry, from what i've seen up to now that beach is mind blowing and indeed seems the true pink beach.
I'll be visiting Antigua in a couple of months and i want to go there with my Italian friend , she's crazy for that place.
We'll get a ferry from Antigua to Barbuda and we're looking for a way to get there.
Could you please tell me what's the cost for 2 persons, how much time it needs to get there and how long you can stay ?
Thanks in advance,
Best Regards
Petros

We’re taking a cruise next Spring that makes a stop in Antigua. We’d love to visit Barbuda while the ship is in port but I’m having trouble finding an excursion company or ferry times that line up with the time we’re docked. Any suggestions ?
Thank you very much.

Hi. I will be visiting Barbuda for the first time via sailboat, and am wondering.... did Irma open up the Lagoon at Low Bay? It appears so on Google Earth and I saw a video from a helicopter. It now looks like you can sail right into the Lagoon.

Going to Antigua in January and we want to go to 17mile beach in Barbuda. I've read that Excellence Catamaran is the way to go but I don't see that they go to 17mile beach. Am I missing something? What's the name of the excursion that goes there?

We are going to Barbuda, via sailing yacht with Windstar. Are there any beautiful beaches a quick walk or taxi from the port?

Hey! Your review was the only one that mentioned the pink sand. Did you go to a particular location to see the pink sand or was the whole 17- mile beach Pink? Thanks in advance. Also, do you think its suitable for a 3 year old to go by boat?
