Gerardo Hernandez and his family run a classy operation, from airport pickup to air conditioned accomodations and great homecooked meals, and seamless coordination with experienced fishing captains. The prices are all-inclusive and reasonable, including gear, licenses, cleaning/freezing, boat rental, food, lodging and transportation. Captain Rigo works hard to get you on fish.

This will be our 6th visit to La Paz to fish with Tortuga Sportsfishing. The family that runs this business is focused solely on customer service. We have gon in groups of 4 up to 14. Everyone wants to know when my father and I are going back to tag along.
The Dorado fishing is second to none. The tuna, when in season, is a blast. Massive Pargo (red snapper) If you a have caught all you can eat in a year then try rooster fishing.
See if you can catch a bigger Dorado than I did last year ;). Ask Gerado

This was by far the best fishing experience my husband and I have experienced to date. We hope to come back to La Paz and Tortuga Sportfishing at least once per year, if not twice. The Hernandez's were incredibly kind and attentive to our comfort and needs. The accommodations at their home was private and clean. The 3 meals, plus an afternoon snack we were given daily was by far the best food we had. It was like visiting mom's house but in Mexico. Our fishing captain all 3 days was Rigo, who was excellent and helpful. We caught 100 lbs of filets of Durado and 1 marlin. The marlin was about 60 lbs.
My husband and I both highly recommend this as the best service, experience and value.
Our suggestion is to fly into San Jose Del Cabo, rent a car, and drive the 2 hours up to La Paz. And buy the 2, 70 quart ice chests in the states. They are very expensive in Mexico and you will only be able to easily find a 50 quart.

We had a difficult time making a decision on which company to go with, all the quotes from other companies were more expensive and did not include bait, tips, taxes, licenses, or packaging. Tortuga is one price for everything. Gerardo was responsive to our emails and phone calls. We booked with less then a 24 hours notice and were a little nervous because it seemed too easy; however everything was AMAZING. We loved the fact that they are the only Mexican owned/operator company and are native to La Paz. Even though, you do not lodge with them they will store, pack and delivery your fish to you. We were first-timers and would used Tortuga again, you will not be disappointed.

Our group has known Gerardo, Dos and Maya for many years. Gerardo started his business with both knowledge of the La Paz fishing and customer satisfaction. We have never been let down by the service and fishing experience. His Captains, Rigo, Nufo and Jorge are the best La Paz has to offer. Recently, Alaska Airline's computers crashed and our flight was cancelled at La Paz airport. Gerardo made all the contacts for us and turned a possible horrible situation into a great ending. I encourage you to try Tortuga Sportfishing and then you'll see why we go back every year.

Gerardo and Maya Hernandez are the perfect hosts at Casa Tortuga. Their son Gerardo 2 is a personable driver to the fishing grounds at Bahia de Las Arenas. We spent 3 days with their captain Rigo and caught some great fish. I have fished with Tortuga several times and have never been disappointed in the accommodations, food (awesome!) and fishing. This spot is a must for the serious fishermen.

Food is excellent, the fishing is world class, and the hospitality is simply the best. Gerardo and his family definetly have their business dialed in. I would recommend and try Tortuga Sportsfishing and experience great service. They are the Nordstroms of the La Paz sport fishing outfitters.

if you've never fished with Gerardo and his crew at Tortuga, you owe it to yourself to give them a try.
The rates are very fair, the service is first class and the fishing is incredible. The captains are very friendly and they work hard to get you into fish. I've fished with many different sportfishing outfits, but I'm done searching for the best...Tortuga wins hands down!! A++++

If you decide to give Tortuga Sportfishing a try you won't be disappointed. Gerardo, the owner, will provide you with the best service you've ever had. From the minute you get to the Tortuga House you will be competely satisfied. The Tortuga House is like being in the comforts of your own home just in La Paz (don't worry there's air conditioning in the rooms) for those warm summer months. The food is great, home cooked real mexican food, really (his wife is actually the cook). As far as the fishing goes Gerardo has some of the best fishing captains I've ever used, they're knowledgable and friendly and fish hard.
Tortuga Sportfishing might not be as well known as Baja Pirates, the Mosquito Fleet or any of the other fishing charters but I can guarantee you a great trip with the best service you've ever had.

Estoy interesada en un día de pesca para 2 personas, estaremos por alla del 1 al 4 de mayo, cuanto cuesta? que incluye el paquete? es necesario llegar a la paz? o desde san jose del cabo?

My husband and I are interesting in sportsfishing while visiting Las Paz. We will be there from Feb 26 -March 5, We are interested in a one day or half day trip. We have a car, but no gear etc. Please let us know if you have a day trip available.

For Tortuga Sportfishing staff,
Can I get a Quote for a group of 3 guys fishing for 1 day including bait, meals, fish cleaning, license and equipment. We will be staying in La Paz and will have a car. We will be there from March 8 - 13. We are open to the specific day and prefer rising in the Las Arenas area.
