This is another of the many statues and sculptures that we saw as we walked along the seafront in Puerto Vallarta, on Thursday 3rd February.
It is located at the intersection of Calle Mina and Morelos, the Malecon.
It consists of two bronze figures, with a green tinge, both are represented in Greek mythology. The figures are Triton, who is the son of Poseidon, the Greek God of the sea and the sea goddess Amphitrite along with a Siren (Greek name for Mermaid).
Triton is portrayed as merman reaching out to his mermaid lover. He holds a trident in one hand as he greets the mermaid who appears to be sweeping her hair off her face.
Both are depicted standing on the crest of a wave. The sculptures are positioned on a two tier base plinth with the mermaid on the taller one.

The on the corner of Mina and the Malecon is the bronze statue of Tritón y la Nereida (Triton and Mermaid), created by a sculpture by Carlos Espino in 1990. It represents two figures from Greek mythology, Triton, son of the Greek god of the Sea Poseidon, and Amphitrite goddess of earthquakes,
and a Nereids, who is one of the Old Man of the Sea' (Nereus) 50 daughters.
The two statues seem to glow in the early morning sunrise.
TIP: For a good photo visit the Statue at Sunset.
