We have shopped here and brought visitors during our 4 years in Mexico City. Nice staff and very unique, artistic gifts or home decorations. Forget the cheesy street vendors when you can buy something to display forever.

This is my favorite shop in Mexico City, located inside one of my favorite museums in Mexico City. Yes, it is expensive, but the quality is top-notch, and it's cheaper than schlepping all over Mexico.

We love this place and spend way too much money here. Great place for artistic items, momentos, gifts, etc. Nice quality and certainly better than anything you will find on the street. We will return often.

Located on the corner near my hotel this is a lovely place to visit, free to enter and wander. Would at he most take 20
Minutes to look at everything and appreciate the craftsmanship here. Some of the ceramics were stunning. The textiles of a high standard. And the prices matched the quality.
This is a nice place to stop for a short while and see some fine work from Puebla.
Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. No wifi.

Last month, I went to the MAP store at the museum location. It had a lot of interesting things -- for a very steep price. I purchased a couple hundred dollars worth of items, and the store employee took them behind the counter to package them for me. I took great care with the items, particularly one ceramic sculpture. In a large bag the store gave me, I padded it with other packaging around the item and carried it by hand each step of my travels -- never in a bag of any kind. When I got home, I was surprised to unwrap the piece of art (which costed over $100) sparsely wrapped and broken into many pieces. The sculpture had a few pieces that jut out, which would have required special attention, but only a piece of tissue paper (which won’t protect anything) was wrapped around it. The item required far more bubble wrap than what was used. Furthermore, two small pieces (pots) were detachable, which the clerk wisely removed; however, she, again, improperly wrapped them, which caused the metal parts to become irreparably bent. It wouldn’t have mattered how careful I was with the bag -- they were too tightly wrapped to maintain shape. I can only imagine what this piece of art would’ve looked like had I put it in a bag or tried to ship it. After contacting the store through Facebook twice, which notes they typically respond within minutes, to discuss my issue, I have been ignored. I provided pictures and a receipt. While they have interesting items, they’re quite pricey, so I would not advise anyone to buy any item that is fragile, large, or very expensive. If you do have a problem, it seems impossible to get a response from them.

In Mexico City I visited the Tienda del MAP, mexican folk art store which belongs to the Museo de Arte Popular, the Folk Art Museum. As I love and collect folk art, it is always on the agenda to stop by. There are some wonderful pieces of handicrafts and folk art from all over Mexico. It is still good but I have the impression that the store selection is less exquisite, less original one of a kind pieces of folk art, and … the prices have gone up substantially compared to a previous visit some years ago.

I am particularly fond of shadow boxes: the ones with offerings of the Day of the Dead dedicated to different mexican artist - Frida Kahlo, Pedro Infante, the singer and actor, amongst others, are spectacular in colour and detail. I bought a box of an artist signing as Ariela Vio. A really fine piece of folk art!

Definitely worth visiting.

I bought a large chest from this store on a recent trip to Mexico City, and asked them to ship it to my home in Canada. When I received it, it was much smaller than what I had ordered (80cm length vs the promised 127cm). They had taken full payment when the order was placed a couple of months ago, and now refuse to give me a refund or acknowledge my emails. It's a shame that despite being attached to a museum, this store has deceptive sales practices when they know that the purchaser lives far away and has no recourse.
