This place is no longer open. We called from the cruise ship before going and found out they are no longer open.

Super friendly couple built their own botanical enclosure and butterflies are freely flying all around! Peaceful and not overrun by tourists. Thank you for your hospitality Gia and Eric!

The owners were so nice! We were educated on the host plants needed for the butterflies. All the plants and butterflies were native to the Island. A lot of love and work went into creating this lovely garden. Ask to have your complimentary refreshment in the garden with the butterflies, it was magical.

It’s a family owned garden. The entrance fee is 300 pesos. The owners were very friendly. I was given a little tour about the plants and butterflies. They provided me with water, soda and bread with cream, cheese and honey.

I have visited once with my children and once with a group of kids ages 3-6. Each time the owners, Gia and Eric welcome us with open arms. They are so happy to share their vast knowledge of biology and botany.
It's such a beautiful space with a sense of peace that overcomes even young children who otherwise would just love to touch everything. They have butterflies, coy fish and hens by choice, but every garden comes with lizards and other creatures that are fun to observe in their natural habitat.
I will definitely visit again.

It's always great finding something off the beaten path... Lovely project, self sustaining butterfly garden. I learned so much and the orchid was lovely. Afterwards I walked back to my resort ....it was not far.
I find again and again the people of Cozumel amazing whether born and raised on the Island or ex pats.....

The Biologist, Gia Lucy came down to provide volunteer service, teaching aguaponics, hydroponics and sustainable farming..As the volunteer effort grew and spread, including our local orphanage, several Churches, scores of farmers and half way houses etc...She saw the need to reach out with a gift to tourists while benefiting the Isla's volunteer effort..the Garden was designed with all local plants, local labor, and totally green...the 13 species of butterfly.."mariposas" and endemic to our Isla...Gia is reproducing and in truth..saving several species...once in a while, there will be several different butterflies from the mainland, as she works to protect them...for the most part, she is reproducing for ages to come..our local mariposas..in English, Blue Azul..."blue,blue". Postman, julia, zebra, monarch, swallow tail of many species...normally their are a few hundred mariposa in the 40 meter by 20 meter enclosure, along with koi and 150 different pllants, over 40 endemis orchids...they provide local, wodd fired bread along with farmer chees and herbs from the organic garden...the tours will onlt last a few more months as the house will be made available for weekly rental...four master bedroom, pool, 1/3 acre with a private butterfly sanctuary, herb garden, eggs and honey on the premise..

My girlfriends popped by The Butterfly gardens and are blown away at how peaceful and beautiful Their gardens are with the butterflies gardens and Kind Hospitality. We had a wonderful afternoon talking to Gia & being shown all the wonderful things her garden holds.

The Botanical Garden is very nice. Many different plant species which host the butterflies and help them thrive. Gia was our guide. She is extremely knowledgeable and very personable. Very much worth a visit.

This particular location is closed, but there is another butterfly sanctuary on the island, which purchased the name and many of our plants and displays. Please visit cozumelbutterflies to contact them.
