Hey friends!
To answer your questions:
- Best season for whale watching is December through April. It's pretty much guaranteed that you'll see them, although take into account these are wild animals. Whale can only be seen in Cabo San Lucas area. Dolphins are a rare sight in Cabo though, you might have a best shot in La Paz for that. There's a "local" pod of dolphins like someone mentioned on a previous comment. You can see them from time to time but again, they are in the wild and that means we're not certain of their behavior.
- The Sea Lions live in a colony at Espíritu Santo Island in the North part called Los Islotes or La Lobera. They are residents, this means you can see them and interact with them year-round. We'd recommend July through September since in the summer they give birth and the juveniles are playful, just observing the regulations and being careful not to disturb the mothers, they are always very friendle almost like puppies!
- The water in December is in the low 70s, you might need a wetsuit (which is included in the price) or you might not it depends on how late the water warms up. This is a Niña year which means the cold water is staying longer than usual, but usually December is mild.
- The 6 hour trip to Espíritu Santo island is one amazing excursion that you do not want to miss. Espíritu Santo Island is a Protected Area and the entire Archipelago is a World Heritage Site by Unesco which means as a community we work hard towards its conservation. It is home to more than 300 Sea Lions, reef walls, many species of fish and breathtaking views. During our snorkel trip we interact with the sea lions, go through rock caves and have lunch at Ensenada Grande, one of the bays of the island. A guide is always with the group and a captain in the boat.
