Exhibits are curated by room, so there is a seafaring room, a wartime room etc. which is all right up to a point but within each room things are a bit haphazard so it's hard to get a coherent overview of Digby's history. (There's a model of artist Maud Lewis in one corner with no explanation - are we supposed to know who she was and why she's there?) A graphic timeline would be a great help, together with some additional information. Needs a new broom!

This museum is the primary place to do any genealogy and family research in the Digby area. They have several staff members who are adept at research and many resources available. It cost five dollars for a half day of research, and $.25 per page for each copy. But it’s certainly worth it because they have resources you cannot find online or anywhere else. The staff was very helpful and showed me a variety of books and other information to complete my project. Thanks very much!

A wonderful little museum with a lot of local history! Two floors of artifacts as well as videos on the fishing industry in the area. There is also an archive if you are researching your ancestors. There is no entry fee (donations accepted) but I believe there is a fee for using the archive.

There are two floors here with multiple rooms. A lot of local history and artifacts with newspaper articles, clothing, things going back to 1800 and prior. No charge. Donation optional. Took about twenty minutes but could have taken longer. Worth visiting if you enjoy local history.

If you are interested in the history or people of the Digby, Nova Scotia area, this museum is a must. We stopped in to see if we could find any information about my family who lived in the area for generations and the staff were super helpful with tons of records to share. It even turned out that distant relatives of mine built and lived in the building long before it became the Admiral Digby Museum. And even if you aren't looking for your ancestors, it's a very informative and interesting place to stop.

Small but interesting Museum on Digby and environs. Enthusiastic,knowledgeable and helpful staff . I was investigating some family history and found the assistance I was given very helpful. Well worth a visit

i went to Digby to research family history and was impressed with the extent of the genealogies to be found at the museum. My family had been the area on and off for 300 years or more. Through their archives I was able to make linear and actual connections with distant cousins both in Canada and the US, including a few still in the Digby area. The staff offer research assistance for a minimal fee if one wants it. They also go a step beyond in helping to ferret out obscure information about
Digby families and local history. If your family comes from here and you want family history, this is the place to go.

This little museum has an extensive records section and offers courses on a regular basis. The exhibits are well cared for and the staff are delightful!
