Superb walk for beginners and families. Really lovely marked routes up and down the mountain. Took 90 minutes at a really leisurely pace. Absolutely brilliant for dogs off the lead too.

Don’t listen to the poor drivers on here moaning about the trip to the car park. It’s absolutely fine. Yes it’s narrow and yes you may have to reverse, it’s a mountain! This forum alone explains why there’s so many poor drivers on the road; their car insurance will somehow be a lot cheaper than mine!!

Only negative would be there was no bin even at the base for dog waste. Free parking though, probably explains that negative.

Heed the reviews re getting to the carpark. Narrow lane does not do it justice. We managed to get all the way to the last carpark and park fine. If you meet anyone along the way some reversing will be required! Nevertheless even the car park has views. Easy but occasionally challenging walk to the trig point. Some slippy services underfoot on the way. If you follow the direct path up and down it starts gently and then gets steeper as you near the summit. We went up the west route and down to the carpark in a circuit. Changeable weather. Blustery at the top but oh the views. Awe inspiring. 360oC and all the way to the horizon. Can be busy at the top but a very worthwhile hike that was not too challenging and rewards you with views galore. Splendid.

A good destination for those who love to hike. Fresh air, summer sun, chilling wind and greenery. Beware of the narrow and steep road up-to the parking though.

Great choice of paths to take you to the summit. Pretty easy walking until the last bit where you just need to watch your footing. Fab views from both the summit and the car park. Took us 2hrs up and back. Take heed of previous posts re the drive to get there. It’s very steep with limited passing places. We almost rolled into the car behind us when letting a car passed! We were attempting a hill start in our Fiat 500, but lost grip and the car behind us was too close. Thankfully had no similar dramas on the way back down.

Lovely morning walk for all ages, beautiful views over the valleys
Would definitely recommend this hike as it’s easygoing but with a nice clean climb to the top. Parking is free

First ever summit and it was perfect! Highly recommend doing SugarLoaf for sunrise hike, it's flat pretty much through out leading up to the peak. There is a slight incline as you get closer and then you need to be able to do proper climbing towards the peak, it's not for long though and is absolutely worth it!! We got there just in time for sun rise and it was magical. Park at the national trust car park and walk up any route, it's not hard to miss and there are plenty of sheep, birds and wild rabbits to stop and admire on the way.

What a nice spot, with the most stunning views. Whichever route you take, you’re guaranteed to have a nice walk. We did the steepest version - not suitable for 70+ and comfortable shoes needed. Absolutely loved it!

On a foggy Tuesday I arrived at National Trust's car park at 8.15 am (with no oncoming traffic) to find beautiful sunshine with clouds below. Followed the route on the National trust board at the car park. An easy walk for the first three quarters of the walk with only a small incline. However, the last quarter is quite steep and the final part is quite rocky and not suitable for anyone who is not reasonably sure footed. This is on a dry sunny day. The top gives you spectacular views and is great place to eat your sandwiches on a sunny day. By midday it became quite busy with all three car parks quite full. On the descent it was nice to see several horses grazing on and by the path. On the return drive only had to back up just before the vineyard. Overall a superb day out.

Ok let’s get the drive up out of the way. It’s single track with very few passing places, a 1:6 gradient in part and a mix of either high stone walls either side or cliff drop offs. We didn’t meet a single car going up and it was still the sketchiest drive I’ve ever done in the 15 years since passing my test, and I live in the rural Westcountry... However… if you can make it up (I drive a 1 litre Kia) its definitely worth it. Outstanding views, and in November very few other people. Would do it again.
