Beautiful spot to visit, plenty of paid parking
80p hour, £1.50 2 hours very cheap.
Beautiful scenic walk along the canal which i think is the River Usk which passes all the way thru to Newport then into the Bristol Channel.
Beautiful spot for a pleasant peaceful walk!!!

We parked at the pay and display car park. There is a dog friendly cafe and all the staff were really nice. It was a short but pleasant walk to the viaduct and back. 3 of the viewing areas were blocked with trees and bracken which was disappointing and it really needs to be cut back.

Easy parking (pay and display) nearby, just look for Aldi turning off the main thoroughfare. Called the canal basin, it is the terminus of the canal. Boat trips can be had and for land lubbers benches to sit and watch the world slowly go by. The Theatre here has a cafe with outside seating Take a little walk along the tow path and see houses fronting on to the canal.

Canal has beautiful views and good paths for walking and cycling. We took a canal boat trip which was well organised with commentary (Just enough so we could talk to friends) and drinks available.

Quite close to the town centre so worth a wander. Nice setting with some nicely preserved bridges and a pleasant rural setting. Looks to be decent facilities for boaters too.

This is a wonderful way to bring the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal to a sensible conclusion. The late twentieth century bridges set the water and the older buildings off wonderfully. There's even a facilities station just along the way.

We visited the Brecon Canal Basin on a Monday morning in August whilst passing through the Brecon Beacons on route to Swansea. We had initially driven to Brecon Cathedral and parked there in a pay & display car park and walked to the canal basins from there passing through the city centre, a distance of just over half a mile.
The basin once formed one end of the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal network and a quick search on the internet reveals that it took coals, iron & limestone to Newport. Since then, the basin has been restored as a smart area for pleasure craft and recreation and the charming row of cottages on one side gives it an idyllic atmosphere.
Unfortunately, on the day of our visit there was only one narrow boat moored up just beyond the bridge but a couple of small pleasure craft seemed to be taking visitors out onto the canal. The whole area is very photogenic and we even experimented with some black & white pictures for effect. The theatre sitting by the side of the basin has a café with outdoor seating though we did not use this.

Beautiful part of Brecon with the departing boats, a pity that they were fully booked
Nice route to walk along the water with the boats, under the old bridges
There are signs along the route with good explanations about the history, for example the longest railway line at that time
51 km of waterway, 800 m height difference in the water, previously 12 locks

We parked up nearby the basin and as we had a blue badge we could park for free for up to 8 hours.
Had a walk down the tow path and over a bridge. Lovely views and so very peaceful. Love gardens facing the canal and such a pleasant view.
Back at the basin we watched as those on the boats turned around ready for their return trip.
We had luck of a cold drink and a jacket potato with cheese - maybe too filling - they do wraps and sandwiches too. And at a reasonable price.
Recommend for unwinding and just a general relaxing rest

The Brecon Canal Basin has seen a great deal of appropriate restoration. Pleasant walks along the canal side with plenty of laid back mallards, etc. An odd tower-like building that may have been part of the canal infrastructure. The theatre has a cafe with outside seating. Regular boat trips along the canal and a big paying car park nearby.

Have you got any availability for the small picnic boats tomorrow for 2 adults & a child (3) please?
I did ring for today but you were fully booked.
Thank you

Hi Can you email me details of day trips on your canal boat. We are a pensioners club and would have about 40-45 people. We are all mobile with no wheel chairs, We understand that you organise 3 hour trips with cream tea. Can you email prices etc.

Hi,
You've e-mailed the wrong person, sorry, I just went on the trip on the canal, I don't organise anything myself.
