This is a lovely outdoors sculpture garden with a collection of about 18 large pieces by the famous sculptor Aristide Maillol (his work would later inspire and influence both Picasso and Henri Matisse).
It’s free and it’s easy to visit because it’s located in between the Tuileries Gardens and the Louvre.
The sculptures are spread out across grassy lawns.
Typically Maillol, the sculptures you see here are all well-rounded, thick-limbed and sensuous women in a series of unlikely poses.
Most are naked, although there’s a swathe of fabric draped around the odd one or two and one figure, ‘Pomona’ holds out a piece of fruit (an apple?) in each hand.
Interestingly it was Maillol’s muse and model, Dina Vierny, who was responsible for the creation of the sculpture garden. She first met Maillol in 1934, when she was just 15 and he was 73. She was the model for several of the pieces here, including L’Air, Méditerranée, Pomona, and all three of Les Trois Grâces.
They had a long model/muse (but not mistress) relationship and, after his death, she successfully lobbied for a permanent display of his work alongside the Tuileries Gardens.
If you have some time to spare, it is a lovely spot to linger. We enjoyed wandering between the sculptures, picking out our favourite ones, and sitting on the lawns, soaking up the sun and atmosphere.

This is a collection of around 20 sculptures spread around the Jardin du Carrousel grounds between the Louvre and Tuileries Gardens. They are the work of sculptor Aristide Maillol (1861-1944) and where installed in 1964.
What you see are various female silhouettes in a variety of poses and gestures, highlighting the elegance and sensuality of the female form. It is a nice (free) outdoor sculpture garden of sorts that is easy to enjoy along with the many monuments scattered throughout the Tuileries Gardens as well.

One of my very favorite places in the world to unwind, dream and just feel super Parisian. I'm absolutely OBSESSED by the Maillol sculptures and I can't believe this entire experience if FREE and just outside the Louvre in Paris.

I do recommend the Maillol Museum to anyone who enjoys sculpture. Here you find a small collection in the out of doors, and it's a beautiful setting outside the Louvre. This collection supplements what you will find in the Museum.

What a lovely place! Facing the Louvre Muséum, where one can relax on a Green chair and chilien can sail a boat. HOWEVER i was disgusted to see floating masks, plastic bottles, condoms! When would people stop treating places like garbage?!

This is a lovely collection of statues, scattered along the Tuileries garden.
Some of the statues are absolutely extraordinary and give the viewer a perfect photo-op.

veel kunst te bezoeken in de Jardins en rond het Louvre.
Sommige beelden zijn mooier dan andere natuurlijk maar het is een goede leidraad om de Jardin te bezoeken en ontdekken

i can't get over the number of first class pieces of art that are "scattered" throughout the Tuileries Garden. Some in the main areas (such as this) and others hidden in corners. Take your time to explore and enjoy.

Located within the Tuileries Garden, Carrousel esplanade between Tuileries Gardens and the Louvre Museum, is a labyrinth of hedging, which in its self is a wonderful green space on further inspection we noticed there was a beautiful collection of statues (nudes) created by Aristide Maillol. (A famous french artist).
There are up to twenty sculptures, scattered amongst the gardens, an open air museum (free). We enjoyed seeking them out. Definitely a must see/visit when in the area
