This is a lovely little area where you can safely swim/paddle without the danger of the mud. We love walking across the bridge and taking in the sea views. It’s also great to watch the fish from here.

An amazing view, it’s great on a sunny day even in winter. Did some crabbing but was a bit windy. We will have to go back for it

A brilliant day at the seaside- a swim in the sea, crabbing, playing on the beach, time in the arcade and ice cream- what more could you want!

We visited Madeira Cove as we were disappointed to find how far the sea goes out at Weston super Mare. The cove has sand and sea at all times but the wet sand is very dirty and the floor of the sea full of mad flats that you can start to sink in. I, personally, didn't think it very safe.

We wanted to have a look at Marine Beach which is now finished, free of silt and actually had people swimming! So we walked on and ended up in Madeira Cove which is a bit more sheltered (the wind was sharp). We visited the tiny cove where my parents ashes were scattered and had a sit down on one of the many benches along there. After a rest, we walked along the causeway towards Knightstone Island and were thrilled at the strength of the wind lashing the sea over the edge and onto our legs! Beautiful, beautiful! the sea, the rocks, everything!

After a substantial lunch, we decided to walk it off along Madeira Cove, taking in Knightstone Island and the lake. Gosh, it was so beautiful! It had been a very misty morning but then, as we walked along, the sun came out. It was really quite warm and we got some great photos, We chatted to a fisherman on Knightstone Island, and then admired the sea crashing into the rocks below. The lake was still in process of being dredged. We hope it will be up and running for the spring visitors. The whole area is stunningly gorgeous! It lifts the spirits!

You can walk from Knightstone Island, either across the causeway or along the Cove itself, to Anchor Head and Birnbeck Pier. There is a cafe at Anchor Head. I always admire the almost-Continental shrubbery along the rocks lining the Cove. Also there seems to be many more benches in memory of dear departed ones all along the rockeries lining the Cove. Madeira Cove has an atmosphere of its own, very calming and relaxing, even in the wind although it's usually less windy hereabouts as it is somewhat sheltered. We had a delicious stroll, admiring the views on all sides. The sun was low in the sky and was streaming across the water! Absolutely lovely. We're so lucky to have beautiful walks like this.

It was a Bank Holiday weekend and therefore lots of people were out enjoying the sunshine. We loved the happy feeling as we walked along Madeira Cove and even the windy conditions couldn't spoil it. The small beach next to Knightstone Island was packed with joyful families forgetting the pandemic for a change although mostly keeping the distancing rules.

Situated next to Knightstone Island, this small beach is safe for children. The nearby breakwater keeps the tide in all day long. Limited on street parking nearby. Local stall sells buckets and spades, soft drinks and ice cream. Local cafe has a takeaway service.

is there a 'local post code' for madiera cove? or any landmarks to head for if someone doesnt know the area that well and is prone to getting lost, a lot?!!

Location /; go north from the grand pier on the beach road (Knightstone road) & Madeira cove is immediately after the "Island" & well before you go past the derelict Birnbeck pier.
Go place to base yourselves for an autumn break.
