Lovely walks well signposted if following a trail.
Weather was good but cold so that was a bonus if wrapped up well. I did not use the car park which seemed expensive as I was camping virtually o

Wonderful amazing forest. Staying in the Tree House with the family and dog's for my Son's wedding. A relaxing time had by everyone

Lovely place. Shame the lake is not more accessible.
Facilities are fab and so are the toilets.
Car park great but way over priced. £9.50 for 3 hrs or £11 for a day. Couldn't go all day and not everyone wants to.
Think they need to rethink the timings and price!!!!!!

Great day out! I used the AllTrails app on my phone to go on a morning/early afternoon hike at Old Pale Hill and Delamere Forest. There was service throughout the whole route and the views are magnificent. If you like to simply enjoy nature, this is the place for you.
It’s right next to the train station which is only around 10 minutes away from the visitors centre - where there is a large cafe, clean toilets, and it’s also a good starting point. There is also a cafe literally in the train station which is convenient if you get there early (like what I did on the way back).
I walked but I did notice there was an option to hire a bike which seemed quite cool. I think that when I go again, I might consider biking instead just for the experience.

Lots of walks and cycling area to explore. Not been here since 1970 and it had improved a lot. Good parking area also. Will certainly go back again,

A lovely walk spoiled by not being allowed to take the direct path back to our car. There was some kind of Xmas lights that you had to pay for, and when we complained that it was a long way around back to the car if we couldn’t go down that path, we were told there were lots of signs warning us. We hadn’t seen any. And even if we had, it still meant we would have had much too long a walk for our ability. We only had another half an hour of light left, so I’m afraid we had to pick our way through the forest, and rejoin the path a bit further down, so we could continue on the only way back to the car we were confident of navigating in the dark. And if what we saw was the light show that the paths were closed for, then it really wasn’t worth paying for. Pedestrian paths really shouldn’t be blocked off in order to make extra money out of people. If in a car driving and a road is closed, it’s not too big an issue. But on foot, it can be a big problem. There might be all sorts of reasons people cannot do the extra walking to get back to their car.

A very big let down. Shockingly overpriced - worth half the entrance price. So disappointing-certainly no wow factor and will never go again. Shame on Forestry England for ripping us off. Given that it was advertised in the Telegraph, we thought it would have been very impressive. Not so. The beautifully lit up tree was stunning and the archway of lights, but they could have done so much more to have made the forest look stunning. Very disappointed with Forestry England.

When we were there the lights and atmosphere were truly something to behold. A picturesque set up that was not overly ‘Christmassy’ but still festive feeling.
The downsides were that the map was not clear, so when the path was 2-way we felt a bit confused. The cost seemed overpriced for the event itself especially when comparing to the effort of the Harry Potter forbidden forest experience for example.
Overall - not a perfect experience, but still a positive and enjoyable way to spend a Christmas evening.

Festive lights!!! Shocking. Absolute rip off. Pay to see the lights and you pay to Park even though you can’t do anything else but go and see festive lights. Only festive thing was a glimpse of Santa. No North Pole , elf village or anything Christmassy. Rubbish. Same price as Chester zoo lanterns and that is 100 times better. Think they have a cheek to charge £10 to park on top of price fir lights too. Will never go again.

I visited Delamere Forest with my 3 year old grandson to do the Gruffulo trail. Really enjoyed it and loved finding the Gruffalo at the end. The interaction is great and lots for him to explore and play with, such a shame that the Gruffalo has had to be put behind fencing.
We visited the cafe as not having visited before I chose not to take a picnic, not a mistake I will make again. It was nice and clean however the food was less than average and extortionate, also a reduced menu. Childs meal, adult toastie and 2 drinks was £17.
The car park was £8!!!
The facilities and the grounds are kept immaculate but my advice would be take a picnic, leave it in the car and get it when you are ready, its what I will be doing when I go back.

Hi we have been looking at the forest hoilday website and it says there is children playarea on location and we was wondering where abouts it was and if there are any pictures of it as we can’t seem to find anything about it
