Great place for a walk with the family. Shame that the braai area not kept as well as the rest of it but I’m sure that will be fixed in time. There toilets too. Car park is a decent size love it xx

This is a great walking and bird watching venue in the Hillcrest area. The reserve offers wetland, forest and grassland habitats and boasts a birdlist of in excess of 200 species.
The paths are safe and well-maintained. There is a picnic area with braai facilities for those who would like to spend more time in the reserve.
Planned bird walks are scheduled for every second Wednesday of the month.

Easy accessible. Quick touring. Not much traffic noise. Decent variety of plants and trees. Convenient for passing extra spare time.

Hillcrest conservancy have done a fantastic job setting up and maintaining this jewel with such a diversity of plant and bird life.

Springside is a great find. It's well maintained, without litter, fully fenced and has a variety of short trail walks.
There are clean ablutions, a picnic area with multiple braai places, with built in benches.
Some of the shorter trails are even suitable for a stable 2 year old!

Fairly well maintained little park. Easy access from Springside Road. Start from the parking lot and do the longest loop walk around the edge of the park, on the path, and you will walk 3kms. Gorgeous array of wild flowers and beautiful birds. Nice to see that paths are maintained and that the grass is burnt in season. I would recommend it for people not wanting to "hike" but are looking to get that nature fix.

My young children and I attended a gathering of friends with all ranges of ages and we all had a great time.
There are braai areas, plenty of trails and shade and everyone had fun jumping in the river.

The Hilcrest community is proud of this little wonder of nature in the middle of the suburb. Many activities happen at the reserve, especially during school holidays.

Well laid out trails, a large sundial ( that is accurate), clean ablutions ( a rarity in public places these days) as well as a picturesque picnic and braai area.
That sums up this ideal place to just "park-off"or else take a great stroll appreciating nature. Have seen fresh buck droppings but to date have yet to see any duiker or buck in the reserve.

We had a very nice walk on the Springside Nature Reserve trail. Every now and then you will find a bench to sit on and take in the beauty of the surroundings. We took the kids with so couldn’t walk too fast or too far and it was still worth it and we’ll definitely go back for more.
