It’s not often I leave a negative review, but after a recent visit to Jollytots soft play over Spring half-term, I was compelled.
We’ve visited several soft-plays in the past. Most are great. Today the weather was miserable, so thought we’d try this one in Littleborough. We didn’t do much research, but the reviews seemed generally positive. On arrival, the parking was limited, but we were lucky and found a space. Initial impressions once inside were good. The young female staff were friendly and helpful on arrival. The centre itself is similar to any other centre. Our three-year-old son loved using the equipment. The café choice is what you’d expect with good prices. So far so good…
Our problems began when my wife tried ordering lunch. She was served by one, large middle-aged male (we assumed to be the owner). When she began to order, he replied ‘what kind of accent is that? Speak English!’. She WAS speaking English, just not in a northern accent. For the record, my wife is a secondary school teacher. Maybe she was using big words?
We weren’t happy, but we were determined not to let the bad attitude of one member of staff ruin the experience. Later on, the same manager started shouting from behind the café counter at some children stuck at the top of the climbing equipment. This was instead of doing the right thing and going over to help. This all got very awkward, as parents were looking around, wondering who on earth was making all the noise.
For lunch, I had ordered a veggie burger. When it eventually arrived, my wife commented ‘that looks a little sad’. I has to agree. It was a basic veggie burger on a plain bun. No side or relish. Sort of thing I would make myself if putting in no effort.
Later on, I thought I’d be brave and order something myself. Maybe I would have a better experience. I tried speaking to the same guy. I soon as I began to order, he broke off to deal with another customer who had just arrived at reception. He told some of the younger staff to deal with me. I noted that he was laughing and joking with these new people. Fortunately, the younger staff who served me was lovely.
When it was time to leave, we waited by the gate, which was locked. We waited, then looked over. The owner had clearly seen us, but didn’t move from behind the café counter. Instead he motioned for us to open the gate ourselves. I found this bizarre, and looked around for some apparent switch or button. We couldn’t find one. Were we being stupid? In the end, a young member of staff came over to help us. We apologised (yes, really!), assuming it was our fault. For the record, it wasn’t. The button was located behind the staff-only reception. In the car park, I turned to my wife ‘Did that just happen?’ It was obvious that the owner had gone out of his way to make us look stupid. Clearly didn’t like us. I have noted from other comments on social media that others have had a similar experience.
All-in-all, this is potentially a good venue. Children have a great time and it is good value. However, it was completely ruined by one point. It’s not often you meet someone genuinely unpleasant. I have no idea why anyone would employ such a horrible character, especially when there are such wonderful staff who already work there.

£9 for 2 kids, kept them happily entertained for a couple hours. Was not so much the soft play that they enjoyed, it was the mini indoor football pitch. Nice little cafe and a seating area for parents. £1 for a slushy. Owners were friendly. Good value. Recommend.

Fantastic venue, lots to do and it’s all clean.
Amazing value for money, you don’t feel like you need a bank loan to take your children out for the afternoon.
Will be returning again and again

Went with my Wife & Granddaughter, only cost a pound entrance & my Granddaughter had a brilliant time. Snacks & drinks are reasonably priced, Staff very friendly & the place is spotless. It changed ownership recently & had gotten a poor reputation for (amongst other things) cleanliness, but l'm happy to report its in good shape. We even went the following day & plan to return again soon.
