No vayan!!!

Nos invitaron para ir a conocerlo y me pareció un horror que los pingüinos estén en el medio del acuario en un sector con luz artificial todo el tiempo, nunca les da La Luz solar!!!! Si quieren ver animales vayan Uds a su hábitat natural!! Nunca vayan a acuarios ni a zoos! Es…

Kia ora and thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I am glad to have this opportunity to set your mind at ease regarding the welfare of our penguins. The enclosure they are in was purpose built for them with all aspects taken into account including of course temperature and lighting. They have specially designed lighting which replicated their natural environment as closely as possible - they even have a beautiful sunrise and sunset each day! While it is always nice to see animals in their natural environment, it is not always possible. Zoos and aquariums play a huge role in conservation through breeding programs and education - which is our ultimate goal, the animals we house are not here purely for entertainment. Guests that visit us do not always have the opportunity to see these animals in the wild - and so coming here is as close as they can get. They see the animals, learn about them, and most people leave with a sense of caring about the species they have seen. This caring can then mean that people will be more conscious of conservation efforts - they may even be inspired to get involved! In this way, zoos and aquariums can have a huge impact on species conservation. Furthermore, by successfully breeding creatures we are actively contributing to the long-term success of the species. You may also have realised that here at Kelly Tarlton's we are home to New Zealand's one and only turtle hospital. We work with the Auckland Zoo and the Department of Conservation to rescue, rehabilitate and release sick and injured sea turtles. Many zoos and aquariums around the world run active rehabilitation centres which have a direct impact on local species survival. Thank you again for your review!
