A Picture Of Disappointment
I was absolutely thrilled about my much-anticipated visit to the Time Capsule Experience at the Singapore Flyer, only to be met with sheer bitter disappointment.
Firstly, the presentation was just an unbearable medley of garish colours, poor animations and low-quality graphics. It felt as though I had been thrown into a poorly designed video game from the '80s, and not in a nostalgic/retro way.
The information provided was so mundane and lacking depth that it would make an encyclopedia yawn. The facts were unengaging, and the narrative delivered with the enthusiasm of a robot running low on battery.
What pained me the most were the missed opportunities. With the advancements in technology, I anticipated a digital step back into different eras of Singapore's history. Instead, I got flat, unimaginative displays that imparted no more knowledge or wonder than a mediocre website could.
Additionally, if you consider yourself even slightly technophobic, I would recommend steering well clear. The host of touchscreens and high-tech gizmos, which functioned more as an endless source of confusion than an engaging learning tool, would send you running for the hills.
Even their much-boasted about interactive 360 VR ride was an absolute joke, leaving me more nauseous than excited.
In conclusion, if you're seeking a new and engaging way to explore Singapore's history and culture, the Time Capsule Experience at the Singapore Flyer is an event you might want to give a wide berth.

Due to covid quarantine, we are stuck in sg during school holiday. As this country is just a dot, after a years of travel restriction we have went to every where in sg, new thing like time capsule is just like finally.... there’s something new!
So we went during school holiday, peak timing when every singaporean/ resident are all in Singapore. And this coupled with social distancing / limitation of numbers in the venue.
The queue was tremendously long , even when you have booked timeslot online yet you still need to queue and wait. The wait was at least 45mins standing outside non air conditioning area. It’s hot.
I failed to understand why the time capsule sell over subscribed ticket on time slot and unpleasant making people to queue by standing. Can you imagine you are expected to stand for 45mins ? Why can’t give out number so people can at least walk around, exploring while waiting? Anyway this happen to almost all attraction in sg, which is really hard to understand that they required you physically stand there, nor even able to leave for toilet. I was alone with both children, imagine if 1 of them need to go toilet, how can I leave my queue that I have been standing for so long? Fortunately 1 of my child willing to wait there, while I bring another 1 to washroom. But think of it, I’m risking by leaving my child alone there.
Well enough about the queue, we went in finally. It’s just a lot of lights , interactive only attract children I guess or maybe too long the queue, my mood has been swing down, not even feel exciting at all. And to my surprise I queue again to go in a particular room with light...
it took us about 10 mins to complete the capsule minus the wait to go in 1 light room(waited for 10-15mins). And to go out from capsule. We are to wait again .... another 10mins just to be out fr the capsule to go to sg flyer. And the wait / queue continue ...
Overall, the experience is wait long long ...

I've walked up and down along the Singapore river on many occasions and I'm yet to find this so called "time capsule". Presumably it was opened as part of the SG50 exercises a few years back, but I don't recall seeing it even before then. There are plenty of other attractions along the river but this isn't one of them.

Honestly, I've actually visited this place back in 2008. However, this 'Time Capsule' would never change. Sure, maybe a few trees would pop up every now and then, probably greener grass, more or less flowers, but the 'attraction' itself doesn't change.
What is the 'Time Capsule' of Singapore, anyway? Well, its a time capsule buried back in the early days to celebreate the 50th anniversery of Singapore (or at least in 2013). It is buried deep into the ground along the Singapore River. Now, I suppose the only way you could experience this attraction is through imaganing what it would be inside, but one could do that from any location in the world.
Therefore, I conclude that the Time Capsule would not officially be an attraction until 2013. Or maybe not, considering the fact the government would take it back. At the least there are some signboards, eh?
