We just returned from a fabulous trip to Columbia - we started in Cali and ended near Medellin. We had four birders, our guide Andrea and our driver Hector. First and most important, we felt entirely safe the entire trip. Have a local driver really helped. Our guide, Andrea, was fantastic and she worked very hard to find us new birds and make sure we got opportunities for great photographs.
For a 9 day trip, we saw just under 290 different species. I really liked the mix of locations and elevations we stayed out. We stayed in many family-run lodges where the rooms were nice and food was plentiful. Xavier's company also employs local guides in addition to our main guide so that provides even more insight into the local birds and fauna.
The entire trip went seamlessly and I would recommend to anyone looking to check out Columbia.
I have a few pictures of the places and blinds but have not downloaded any bird pictures yet!

We just returned from an amazing and wonderful birding and wildlife tour to Ecuador with Neblina Forest. Xavier arranged for us the entire tour, and everything worked out perfectly. It was a private tour with just the two of us. Luis Panama our expert guide and driver did an outstanding job and worked hard to show us some of the mammals of his country in addition to the many birds. We enjoyed a spectacled bear with a cub in the high Andes, a mountain tapir at San Isidro and a total of seven different monkey species in the lowlands of the Amazon.

Our families were concerning about our tour to Ecuador because of the recent press about the violence in Guayaquil. We can only confirm what “DCR_1942” wrote in his statement below, we felt absolutely secure all the time. We had a day tour in Quito the first day and here also the atmosphere was very relaxed.

If you look for a fabulous destination for a nature tour, Ecuador is very good choice and we highly recommend Neblina Forest to assist you with the tour.

Just returned from an amazing adventure with Neblina Forest to Columbia. We had a 10 day birding tour that was very well organized and so fabulous. Andrea was our expert guide who helped us find almost 300 different types of birds! We enjoyed all of our hotels and lodges and food that was all planned out by Neblina. I would highly recommend booking an adventure with Neblina Forest!

This was an amazing and wonderful trip. First, and probably most important, the knowledgeable local guide was able to provide a very safe and comfortable trip from the pickup at the airport to our eventual drop off there. Our guide (Xavier Muñoz) is widely respected for his knowledge, experience, environmental sensitivity. With years of experience, and his local knowledge he made us feel very safe and provided the type of personal attention only possible with such a guide. We not only experienced fantastic wildlife, but great food, fabulous lodging, but also varied cultural experiences. All the staff at Neblina Forest are extremely helpful, client focused. Our driver (Franklin) demonstrated the kind of care and skill only possible with years of experience. I cannot say enough good about this fabulous trip.

I, along with 8 other friends, went on a 2-week-long nature/birding tour of Ecuador with Xavier Muñoz, in February, 2024. It’s difficult to give adequate praise for Xavier and the whole experience. He arranged for us to visit and stay at absolutely extraordinary places throughout the two weeks. Condors, spectacled bear, giant otters, 40+ hummingbird species - on trails and lodging from the rain forest to the cloud forest to the high Andes.

There are also intangibles that require mention. Xavier made sure that every person in the group had good views of everything, and he kept watch of everyone’s physical conditions, including any limitations. And clearly he knows all the side roads, off the beaten path, that hold the truly rare natural wonders

For Xavier (pronounced Ha’ vee air), one quickly finds that this is not so much a job as a calling. He is passionate about all things natural and he is driven to preserve the beautiful and varied treasures of his native Ecuador…. and also to share them with people from around the world. He has identified patches of land that are home to rare species and purchased them, aiming to add to the property and create additional refuges. And he is unfailingly good-natured and enthusiastic. He carries an encyclopedic knowledge of all things Ecuadorian - biological, historical, cultural.
None of this surprised me, since we went on a Neblina trip with him to Brazil’s Pantanal region a year and a half ago. That too, was delightful and min-blowing.

If you have been concerned about the recent press coverage of violence, especially in Guayaquil, don’t let that keep you from going. In the first place, nature tours don’t go to that region. In the second place, the danger is no greater than going to Philadelphia or Chicago or Los Angeles. One uses common sense precautions, and Xavier has his eye on the safety and well-being of all those with him. I’ve been to Ecuador more than a dozen times since 1974, and this year, as always, I found it to be a delightful, beautiful, bucket-list place. Friendly and polite people who greet friends and strangers alike. Spectacular views and delicious, varied traditional foods.

Go to Ecuador, and go with Xavier’s Neblina Forest Tours.

Our group of four experienced an awe-inspiring day exploring the Antisana National Park and surrounding landscapes. Our guide Xavier Munoz with years of professional, naturalist experience and our driver Jaime made for a delightful and knowledgeable team. One of our goals was to see the infamous Andean condor and at our first stop we did just that. It only got better from there. Xavier knew just where to stop to explore and view the Andean ibis, variable hawk, carunculated caracara, aplomado falcon, more condors, and many other birds endemic to the highlands. To top it off, we had one of the most scrumptious, traditional Ecuadorian lunches at the delightful Tambo Condor with a sweeping view of the valley and hummingbirds darting around the feeders. If you are looking for a stimulating and enjoyable adventure in the Antisana highlands this trip is for you.

I would give Neblina Forest Tours a 10 if possible! From the seamless pickup at the Airport in Quito (after our plane being delayed twice!) to the final night drop off back in Quito, the trip/itinerary could not have been planned better. It was Flawless! Our itinerary took us from the Sachatamia Lodge near the Mindo area to the East side of the Andes – from the San Isidro Lodge to the town of Loreto and the Anitsana National Park in between! Our guide and driver, Francisco Munoz, stayed with us the entire time. He was so courteous always making sure we knew where to step and had his shoulder ready to hold on to if the footing was slippery. He saved my 60plus year old butt so many times from falling going up and down slick clay covered hills! Our accommodations and food were excellent (our trip included 3 meals a day as well as the lodging)! Francisco had a wonderful repour with both the Lodges and the Birding sanctuaries we visited. His knowledge of the ecosystems/plants/animals/birds was amazing! It was our first time visiting Ecuador, but it won’t be our last and we wouldn’t hesitate to have Neblina Forest Tours set up our next itinerary! They are beyond reasonable as well!! Our heartfelt thanks to Francisco Munoz and Neblina Forest for the unforgettable journey!!

An amazing day touring the Antisana National Park and the highlands birdwatching and nature viewing with Neblina Tours. Our guide Xavier Muñoz and driver Jaime were top shelf. Xavier is professional with decades of knowledge, expert birder and naturalist showing us the wonders of the area. Our day trip truly exceeded all our expectations. Andea condors, Ibis, tons more and amazing views of Volcanos Cotopaxi and Antisana. Bonus he took us to a fabulous place to eat an Ecuadorian lunch and watch condors, humming birds and more in the highlands. Best Ecuadorian food in our 2 weeks in Ecuador. I highly recommend Neblina Tours and any trip organized by Xavier. He’s a pro and made the day easy, fun and fascinating.

We embarked on a 14-day bird photography expedition with Neblina, and it exceeded our expectations in every way. Our guide, Cesar Bollatty, was a true maestro in both bird knowledge and photography. His expertise extended beyond identification – his knack for recognizing bird calls and behavior ensured we captured remarkable shots. Cesar's seamless navigation through Northern Peru's diverse landscapes revealed hidden avian gems. Neblina and Cesar orchestrated a journey that seamlessly blended education, adventure, and stunning visuals. An absolute must for any bird enthusiast!
