My family and I had an unfortunate experience during our recent visit.
We attended the 7:30pm showing of The Lion King. Despite being a few minutes late due to traffic, we were required to wait for access due to live actors "animals" moving up and down the aisles. Once we were allowed inside, the theater was dark and the event was fully sold out, making it difficult to locate our seats. We requested assistance from an usher, who unfortunately was unable to provide us with the seating layout information. As a result, we had to navigate through the row, inconveniencing more people in the process.
Once we located our designated seats, we found other individuals occupying them. The situation escalated, leading to a delay of approximately 15-20 minutes while staff attempted to resolve the matter. Regrettably, only 2 out of the 4 seats were eventually freed, and we were informed that we might be able to occupy our seats only after intermission. This meant that my family missed a significant portion of the first act and were unable to sit together until after intermission.
To make matters worse, the couple in our seats admitted to knowingly occupying them and expressed their intention to not move until intermission.
I took the initiative to send an email to management the following day, but unfortunately, I have not received a response.
I find it disheartening that such a reputable establishment lacks proper training for ushers regarding the seating layout and does not have clear policies in place to address situations where individuals refuse to vacate seats they are not assigned to. This experience has left a lasting negative impression, and I am hesitant to return or recommend this establishment to others.

I love the Segerstrom and really liked the seats. The woman working at the bar was the rudest person I have ever experienced at the Segerstrom. Very disappointing. But even more disappointing was the actual performance of The Nutcracker. I grew up watching ABT's The Nutcracker and actually saw the original at the Kennedy Center in 1976 with Baryshnikov and Kirkland. This 2023 performance/version of ABT's Nutrcracker was all over the place. It begins in a kitchen, which I have never seen. Almost the entire first act was children. I assume it was kids from the ABT program at the Segerstrom. The choreography by Alexei Ratmansky is safe and does not march the elegance of Tchaikovsky's score. There was a lot of slapsticky pushing and shoving and a very odd dance that used to be The Arabian dance that has become some weird concubine dance with a man that just walks around the stage before being kicked to the curb by the ladies. Very strange. The dance of the flowers seemed to lack syncing between the dancers and there were extremely distracting "bees" that "buzzed" through that dance. Once we finally got to the Nutcracker Prince and Princess, I was expecting the level that I have always experienced. Again, the pas de deux and the solos were all very safe. I am not sure why such a huge shift in the solid original. All in all, it was disappointing. I brought my husband and kids, who have never seen The Nutcracker, and I had to tell them that this performance was not the way it was supposed to be. I hope that ABT takes this into account for next year.

Been here a couple of times for a show and it was awesome. They had the typical security check in the front as people walked towards the main entrance. It wasn't hectic and the lines weren't long at all. The staff was very friendly and answered our questions. They directed us to the floor that we were supposed to be on and the seats we reserved. The seats were pretty good and we had plenty of room. We sat in the mezzanine section and had a perfect view of the stage below. There doesn't seem to be a bad seat in the house since you're right on top of the stage. The sound quality was amazing and it wasn't too loud. There's plenty of parking in the structure, at the time of this review, 11/2023, parking was $15. There's also parking in the surrounding plaza but you would have a farther walk and use the crosswalk. Overall, this is a great place to go to catch a show. Been here twice like I said, not disappointed at all and will return for future shows.

Yesterday we saw A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry at the OC Center for the Performing Arts. If you can even get tickets, (play ends Nov 12th) go. Taking place in the 1950's the drama mirrors the dreams that a black family has, but the kind of dreams that all of us have for our lives --a place to call home and the love we want in our families despite many obstacles in our lives. Wit and clever dialogue, as well as perfect casting means that all the characters "steal" the show. With excellent staging in a drama from one of America's most famous playwrights, this play is one you should not miss. Just go.

Saw Mean Girls here yesterday. Had dead center seats, but Row U which is pretty far away. We saved money but should have had binoculars. Seats are comfortable, plenty of leg room, which is good because the rows are LONG and lots of folks will need to slide by you.
Sound mix made it difficult to hear the cast and the music. Parking is close by and $15

Let me start by saying this review has nothing to do with the actual performance I attended. This review is a critique of what may well be the worst performance space every built.
First the sight lines and obstructed views are so abundant that unless you are seated in the dead middle of the orchestra seating section it you will be disappointed. Having sat in every seating area from orchestra to balcony I have determined that choosing a seat is simply a matter of deciding what your willing to compromise. Those who wish to hear and not see a full production may be happy with the orchestra terrace. Those who like a clear line of view with muted and muddy sound should sit in the back of the orchestra or upper orchestra. Anyone who doesn’t care of the see or hear anything should sit in the balcony.
And if you are thinking you’ll be safe by choosing the first row of and upper level seating area, think again. Be prepared to share your view with brightly painted red safety rails that run at eye level across the entirety of each section.
In short if the only option you have is to see a performance at Segestrom Center for the Arts or miss the show.
Then you should go see the show. But if that show is touring to any near by city including Phoenix, San Francisco. San Diego or Las Vegas, or Los Angeles skip the headache and regret and spend the extra time and money to see it in a real theatre.
Segestrom Center for the Performing Arts is by far the most poorly designed performance space I have every experienced.

Since I am a dinosaur and have neck problems we finally got seats as season tickets.
Was so happy and told my wife we will get season tickets as long as we can enjoy the seats and we will get season tickets every year. That happiness was short-lived when we wanted to get season tickets again that seats I could use without pain. So that is all for us and I want to thank the last person that helped us. Well, we will have to go back to Hollywood theaters. thanks to my investment banker taking care of us. The information posted on season tickets is all wrong they are not good seats like a friend told me that Segramstrom policy is condescending if you live in the wrong zip code.

I've attended several performances at Segerstrom Concert Hall, mostly featuring the excellent Pacific Symphony. The hall is beautiful and has wonderful acoustics, but the sightlines can be mediocre to poor, particularly on the sides of the auditorium. In some of the box seats, you almost need to lean over the railing to see the stage. The Orchestra Terrace seats seem to have the best balance of view and value.
When getting tickets to the Pacific Symphony, be sure to purchase them from scfta.org rather than the symphony website. For some reason the symphony charges a ridiculous service fee of $18 per order compared to about $2.50 per ticket through SCFTA.

Bought tickets for a holiday jazz show in the Samuelli Theater. It was set up with tables like a jazz club. Not sure why because you cannot take drinks inside, except a bottle of water. What? No worries about a 2 drink minimum here! LOL (I’ve been to the ballet in the main theater and you can take your drinks inside so I’m not sure what the issue is here.)
The crowd was very spread out which must have been disappointing for the performers. Tickets are all bought on line so you can’t “gather round” space available. It looked empty.
Also—the security search of a purse that measures 6 x4 inches seems ridiculous.

Is the area safe at night with my kids? We'd be driving back to San Diego after the show, which ends around 10:00.
I would like to ask for suggestion on a good view seats with fair price where i can enjoy the show more? thanks

Would like to see the Nutcracker in Segerstrom Theater--not concert hall. Am considering seats in the Orchestra Terrace or in the Loge (close to the front). There are two children in our group of five. Which seats would be better?

Has anyone experienced the Grand Tier seats? I'm thinking about getting tickets for Ben Hur and because there will be a film showing behind the orchestra I'm wondering how hard it will be to see the film from this far away. Sounds like it will be a very interesting experience -- the score was written by Stewart Copeland and he'll be joining the symphony to perform it live.

Sounds like a great show! Like the other reviewers, I am not that familiar with watching a screen at Segerstrom, but I think a call or email to the box office with your question might be in order. If they say any seat is fine, ask to speak with someone who can be more specific with an answer for you!
is there anything available for the dates 1-19-2015, and tailored to a two year old?

No venues play on Mondays.
Two years will have a very difficult time sitting through any performance as they run 1 1/2 hours on average.
Best to leave them home with a sitter and you enjoy your night out.
What is it?

No. These halls or venue performances are intended for persons of teenage years and older. On occasion especially st Christmas time or a few times a year there are specific performances made specifically or for the enjoyment of children. PLEASE DON'T TAKE CHILDREN to performances not directed towards children especially if they will be disruptive to those there trying to enjoy the performance. Check in advance. I would say the minimum age for a family performance would be 4.
