It was late in the day when we found ourselves at this small but mighty victrola museum. We were the only ones in the place (it was only 45 min til closing time) so we gots lots of great info from the two very knowledgeable guides. The machines are displayed well and the exhibits are easy to understand as well as beautiful. We got to listen to several records which is always a treat! Well worth the time!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the museum! The gentleman that gave us a tour was highly knowledgeable and so friendly… he really did make it a fun and educational experience. His enthusiasm was contagious.

Solely about the Victorola. Fascinating slice of history. We were met by a tour guide who walked us through and showed us everything, told us everything, played some of the machines so that you could see and hear them operate. Loved it

Personal tour of the history of the Victrola. Good artifacts. Knowledgeable guide.
You get to listen to records played on very old Victrolas.

From the moment you walk in, you are enticed into gramophone enthusiasm by the friendly and informative museum team. We truly enjoyed touring the museum with docent Steve Cox. You can just see the artifacts on a self-guided tour as well -- the descriptions are excellent. If nothing else, you have to see Nipper and hear his story. Hearing the gramophones play 1920s music as our great grandparents might have done was a highlight.

If you are at all interested in the forerunners of the modern record player and vinyl album, the museum is a must visit. You will be wowed by the museum's collection of victrolas, be treated to a recording, and learn about the pioneering genius of Delaware native, Eldridge Johnson.

I loved this museum. If you love music, you will too. A fascinating walk back in time to when music was first captured, recorded and released into people's homes using these strange machines. You can see, hear and experience it as they did. An excellent visit for those of us who remember Nipper the dog (the sound of his master's voice) and an education for those who only think of vinyl as a collectable.

The Victrola history is much more interesting than I realized! And this museum has an outstanding collection of Victrolas and other related artifacts. For most of my visit, I was the only guest in the museum, so the person working there (maybe he was a volunteer) shared a lot of interesting information and stories with me. Small, unique museum and worth a visit. I'm always happy to find these museums that capture and protect a unique part of history for future generations.

It was a slow day at the museum. Docent Larry greeted us when we arrived and offered us a quick introduction to the museum. He ended up giving us a private tour of the whole museum that lasted more than 1 1/2 hours.

Larry was a great guide. He explained how one model was different from the next, why it was unique, lots of back stories, etc. None of it was a dry recitation of facts. We had a lively interaction the whole time. If left to ourselves we would have spent at most a half hour there and we wouldn't have gotten that much out of it.

The docents normally don't give tours. When you go, ask if Larry can give you a tour anyway. You'll be really glad you did. Be sure to leave a decent donation.
