The Improv web site is misleading and bordering on criminal. My son purchased me a $100 e-gift card thinking I could use it to see a show at the Chicago/Schaumburg location. The Chicago location told me they won’t accept my gift card!!!! The fine print after order info is all entered indicates participating locations which Chicago is not listed. This is very deceptive and would take a lawyer reading small print to even notice! I guess it is Zanies for me from now on!!!

I attended the Bruce Bruce comedy show on Nov. 17th, 2023, at Chicago Improv-Schaumburg. The place overall is okay, and I looked for to the show. However, the customer service is terrible. I was asked to leave after not meeting their two-drink minimum.
After being seated I was soon approached by the waitress expecting me to place an order where I kindly declined. She stated that there is a mandatory two item purchase for each person as listed on the ticket, before moving on to another table. The waitress lady returned asking for the items that I’d like to purchase. I stated that I wouldn’t be making a purchase due to medical reasons as I recently just had weight loss surgery. I provided her with a medical card from my surgeon’s offices in which she disregarded and repeated that I had to make a purchase. I responded with I medically cannot consumed these goods here, that I’d be willing to speak with the manager if necessary. A female manager quickly approached me stating that I either by 2 bottle of water or leave the premises. I repeated myself to the manager and offered the medical card which was disregarded again. The manager stated that this has been the company policy for over 18 years and that they have never had a problem. I politely responded that I understand however I medically couldn’t meet their expectations. She stated that there was surely something that I could buy and that it didn’t have to be food. I stated that I didn’t have room in my tiny stomach for anything. Her final offer was to buy to bottles of water or I could leave and get a full refund. I told her that I’d take the refund. I was then escorted out and my ticket number was recorded.
The next day I received notification from TicketWeb stating that I had received a refund. Upon review I notice that the refund was not for my total purchase. I began to email TicketWeb and contact Chicago Improv where I was told that they do not refund taxes nor service fees. I stated that this was not the agreement and that I wanted my refund. My information was taken down and I was ensured that I would receive a follow up and I surprising received my first apology.
To this date I have not received the full refund and I have not received any further communication from the company.
I remain in shock of this interact and the bias presented to be a business model of this company.

I brought my mother to see the infamous Adele Givens in which our server informed us (AFTER our orders were placed) that they only accept debit cards with a chip. She advised she would speak with management on how we were to proceed with payment for our purchases, only for the manager to come and advise (AFTER THE SHOW) that a chip card was needed. When inquired as to why this is not listed online (tickets purchased from their site) she advised she did not know. The embarrassment and humiliation to have our party held hostage (servers and bartenders swarming our area like we were going to run smh) while I had to go to the mall to find an ATM (the venue doesn't have one and who carries cash these days....) to render payment was beyond me! The fact I had to pay 18% gratuity to walk the mall and find an atm that wanted a 5$ service fee is BEYOND ME! No apology, no nothing, not even a thank you for coming! #HORRIBLE! I wanted to come see Michael Blackston yet this left a HORRIBLE taste in my mouth!

could barely hear comedians and not much in the way of atmosphere. Have gone to better more intimate venues.

We recently made our first visit to this Improv location to see Orny Adams (absolutely hilarious), and I am very impressed with this venue. Good location in Chicago’s suburbs to avoid crazy traffic, parking, etc. The Improv is at the Woodfield Mall, but the entrance is from outdoors near the Texas de Brazil steakhouse. Once inside everything is very inviting from the bar area to the performance room. For a space that can seat over 400, it is very cozy and intimate with not a bad seat in the place. It is general admission with a two drink or two menu item minimum per person, and for a typical Saturday 7:00 pm show (Fridays can be 30 minutes later), the outside doors open at 5 pm, but outdoor lines will form before that depending on the act and the weather. Seating is on a 'first come' basis, so a little waiting before the venue opens may snag you seats right up front.

Saturday dinner reservations start at 5:30 pm and the opening act will start right at 7:00 pm. If there is a feature, then that will follow the opener, and then the headliner for an hour or maybe a little more. Fridays and Saturdays there is usually a later show, and Saturday usually starts at 9:15 pm (Fridays 9:45 pm). Regardless, there is a full bar and full menu (2 drink or menu item minimum per person), and service is good and fast. It has a typical bar menu and appetizers but also a few healthier choices like salads or salmon, etc. Our table of six had a few burgers/fries (good), chili lime salmon (good), and shrimp fettuccine alfredo (good) as well as some appetizers, calamari (good), fries and garlic butter (good), Mazzarella sticks (ok), fried green beans (????), and Chicken flautas (good) The portions were all decent, and prices are typical for the area. The drinks were likewise fine, and with Chicago suburb prices, but stick with the basics. Beers, wine, standard mixed drinks are your best bet. We did try some more mixed drinks too with ‘mixed’ results; dirty martini (good), Bloody Mary (weak), Irish coffee (ok), and whisky old fashioned (ok).

At the end of the day, this is a comedy club first; a bar secondly, and then a restaurant, and as an overall package its really well done. Most importantly, ticket prices for premier acts are very affordable for Chicagoland ($15-$45, Orny Adams was a bargain at $28!) The nice part is that you can get there early and relax in a great seat for the show and with the convenience of food and beverages. When added up, dinner with drinks plus a ticket is likely less than the cost of many comedy shows in bigger venues, and at the Improve you are much closer to the action. We loved it, and we’ll be back.

Lived nearby most of my life, and have always wanted to go - finally did, and enjoyed it. Husband isn't a big fan of stand up, but he's starting to like it. We saw Rob Schneider on 12/27/19 - he was good. It was crowded, and we didn't get a great table - but it certainly could have been worse.

We didn't eat there, just got our 2 drinks minimum a piece - and let me tell you, don't order the margarita - it's simply awful...... I couldn't even drink it. I poured water in it, and STILL couldn't drink it.

Surprisingly the prices were reasonable - I expected them to be off the charts - even the food menu is reasonable, but like I said - we did not eat there. We will surely go again!

The first time we went to this Improv at Woodfield Mall. It was a NYE special dinner & comedy. As expected, it was crowded. Drinks were served quickly. But then it was hit and miss with the food delivery. Some rows were already done and eating dessert, while we were still waiting for our salads. Food quality was ok, you don't expect a 5star restaurant. At some point the non-dinner crowd comes in and joins you at your table. Weird. Comedian Rocky Laporte was funny, the 2 openers were good.

This is my 5th or 6th time going. Every comedian has been great and the service always meets or exceeds expectations. Always a great night out.

Went for a family celebration. Parking at the shopping center was difficult so allow extra time, especially on a weekend. Food was good and drinks were reasonably priced. Staff were very friendly and helpful, returning many times to see if we wanted anything else. It seemed that the f word was used by the first 2 comedians every other word. The 3 rd comedian was funnier than the previous 2 but still resorted to the f word far more often than needed or appropriate. Maybe I’m getting old but it a shame these entertainers were so limited in their vocabularies that they felt they needed the f word so often !
