I hit SRO venues all over the world. This has been remodeled since 2017 apparently. It’s NOT in any basement…. In fact it’s among the best SRO venues ANYWHERE. YOU CAN SIT WHEN YOU NEED A BREAK. Acoustics in the floor are fantastic.

I am a longtime Detroit area resident, yet I have never had an opportunity to visit St. Andrews Hall for a concert. However, that recently changed when we went to a live show on a late February Saturday night. I have always heard varying comments on SAH regarding it's overall condition, service and sound, both good and bad. From someone who has been to over a 100 live shows everywhere from monster-size stadiums to little beat-down bars, I can tell you without hesitation that St. Andrews is AMAZING! First off, the legendary building itself was far nicer than I expected. Not even close to a "dump" as some others describe, but rather, it's a very well taken care of historic building with all of it's natural flaws and charm. Everything inside was neat, orderly, and clean. The entire staff and especially the bartenders were very friendly and offered pleasant conversation. They actually seemed to be enjoying their jobs. We had premium center balcony seats (great view of the stage BTW) which were super comfortable for the short time we were not actually standing :-) The sound was ABSOLUTYELY amazing: Crisp & Clean that shakes your soul. This is the perfect intimate setting for a great live show!! Now, the only question I am asking myself is what took so long??? Don't make the same mistake I did....head downtown and go see a show at St. Andrews....SOOON!!!!

Apparently you are subject to being kicked out of this place if you refuse to let belligerent and inconsiderate people push their way in front of you when there is no more room left to stand. I was just trying to ignore these people who were ruining my and others' concert experience when several security guards grabbed me out of no where... I literally was just standing there and they acted like I was being violent.
Very disappointed by my experience at the Little Dragon show tonight. Maybe actually observe what's happening and substantiate claims instead of just taking what these entitled people complain about at face value? Because you would have known they were the ones being disruptive if the staff had bothered to do their jobs correctly.

As luck would have it, I ended up on crutches just in time for a concert at St. Andrew's Hall. All the employees went out of their way to offer help and make me feel comfortable. At least 6 different employees offered to help me at some point.
Another refreshing thing is that there was plenty of staff working. Lines at the bar were basically non-existent. Security was a breeze. Whoever is in charge of staffing and training is doing a great job.
Parking was also simple. Lot right next to the venue was open and for $20 we were about 30' from the door.
We paid for the balcony upgrade and the view was spectacular, and the private bar was amazing!

It was actually more like April 2018. Great show. Sat up in the Balcony section which was a little tight. but had a great view.
Also it was nice being upstairs to have easy access to the upstairs bar

My friends and I love St. Andrew's Hall! The sound is great, bartenders are phenomenal (even served us at the rail!) and we loved the early access to The Shelter! We would definitely see another show here!

Standing room only, but limited balcony seating for handicapped patrons (you won’t likely be able to take the whole group up, which is a drawback). That being said, friendly venue, decent acoustics, good security, and reasonably priced parking nearby. Don’t get drawn in by the panhandlers; they are harmless but persistent.

Hit S.A.H. to see Ian Noe and then the Markus King Band play. Lots of parking nearby, so no troubles there. Getting into the venue was simple w/ a quick security check and a scan of our digital tickets. Once inside, we hit the bar for a couple drinks and wandered up to find a good spot on the floor, close to the stage. Both bands sounded great and made a few friends by the time the show was over.
Will definitely look for other shows at St. Andrews!

I was specifically impressed with the security procedures... they did a great job at screening guests before entry... I know, that might be a silly thing to think is great ...but it was.
Everyone was friendly and the venue was clean. The bathrooms have been updated and there are a lot more stalls then I previously remember.
The sound... it was ok, but it felt like the vocals should have been turned up, it felt like the music was incredibly loud compared to the vocals. But, it was still a great show... and, hope to be back to St. Andrew’s soon!

Would you recommend using the “fast lane” passes? I’m taking my (teenage) kids to a show and would like to get onto the rail.
Thanks

My 15 year old wants to go to a concert here for her bday. Is it safe to let her go with a friend, or should I go to supervise? I haven't been there in years.

We have tickets for an upcoming concert and also purchased the Fast Lane pass. How does that work? I assume people line up outside before doors, but it doesn’t sound like they have separate lines outside (like they do at the Royal Oak Music Theater). I called the box office but they were very vague: “you could ask a guard when you get there” ???

I am legally disabled. I can only walk short distances and stand short times. Is there handicapped parking close to the venue and any seating available? Thank you.
Escrita el 4 de mayo de 2017
I would call the venue directly but I do not recall either and I have a handicap parking placard for my bad leg due to 2 back surgeries. It was not easy, really tight seating.

All in all, yeah, the area is safe and perfectly fine. They're not going to be mugged outside of the building, or even in the immediate area. That being said, if you don't know the city, you don't want them exploring without you; but that's common sense and safety.

I found tickets for $50 each for this Sunday nights concert at 7pm on Livenation for the balcony. Is Livenation not a legitimate place to purchase tickets?
Escrita el 24 de septiembre de 2015
Nancy- I just took a look at Sunday night's show and see there is a Reserved option. I'm guessing that's what you're looking at. To get full info on what those tickets incorporate, your best option is to call the venue at 313-961-8961.

If I'm buying balcony tickets for row 7 and 8... can you tell me if that's up close to the front of the stage or toward the back?
Escrita el 24 de septiembre de 2015
This venue is GA standing room only. Until night of show, there are no balcony tickets available. Balcony seats are an upgrade available only through the box office day of show.
You are likely looking at tickets on a third-party scalper site which are likely fake.
