After Harrah's took it over, this hotel went to sh-t, and shutting down the Masquerade was just another stupid move on their part. Tony Marnell, who built and opened this hotel, created an expansive "suite" type room that was unique in town, unlike the usual drab hotel rooms, and his innovation has been copied many times over in other hotels since 1990. Mr. Marnell had a vision of creating a family-oriented mecca offstrip, and this used to be a great place for reasonably-priced food, entertainment, etc. Now, it's just another tired looking joint inside, and the restaurants are overpriced and not very good. We haven't been back for at least 15-20 years.

The theme of the Rio Suites and casino is Carnival. This area where this Masquerade show in the sky is what should make the theme come through. They took it away and replaced it with ? Oh, nothing. If you are going to stay at a casino that's not on the strip, you should be entertained while you are there. On the weekend, they did have a top band playing below where this once grand attraction once stood. Hey Rio! Bring it back!

The show is energy: The dancers, the singers, the music. There is a post-show in front of the stage. Usually, with a member or two of the Chippendales with a photo op.

O show é ótimo, mas desapontará quem vai pensando que vai ver o pessoal dançando samba ou o carnaval do Rio. Está mais para o Mardi Gras de New Orleans!

there is no more masquerade in the sky show... due to recession.. we were told.... not much going on at all in the hotel...hardly seen staff on the floor at all...

I am presently here at the Rio, the masquerade show in the sky is one of the reasons I chose Rio, that and the Seafood Village Buffet. Sadly disappointed that the show is no longer happening

There was a sign up saying that the shows are cancelled until further notice which is kind of weird. When I saw it in the past, it was more of a mardi gras type fun sky show which would be kid friendly so I was hoping that my son could see it. . .but then I found out that it's now got an edgy adult show before the parade so I am actually glad it was cancelled LOL.

Two parts to each show, pretty good. They throw free necklaces to the audience. A fun experience. Nice hotel. Get the free shuttle which runs between Bally's and Rio and Harrah's and Rio. We walked there, it looks closer than it is! Got the shuttle back.

This show has changed a lot over time. Now it starts with a stage show of men and women dressed like strippers trying to dance. The dancing was atrocious. Then they take to the sky with the only thing that makes this show unique which is the overhead float track. There is no show at that point. There is simply 3 floats with dancers throwing beads at people below while loud music plays. There is no connection between the stage show and the overhead show. This was pretty bad.
