Let me start by saying that this is a place that you NEED to go to if you are on a cruise that stops at Port Costa Maya. My family and I rented a golf cart from the port (Red Shirts) and drove ourselves to the resort. They do provide reimbursement for your taxi but I personally like to be in control of my adventure. They did still give me the money. We enjoyed delicious cocktails with fresh made juices and amazing food, Tacos, Guacamole, Queso Dip and Chips Everything was delicious. Resting on the loungers and bed on the shore of the beach was just what we needed for the day. This place is not a scam and as much as I would like to keep it quiet so I can always get a spot there it is a destination that everyone needs to feel. We are already planning on going back!

Excellent guide, beautiful day; unfortunately, we only caught one fish. However, it was large fish, so we all enjoyed the best fish tacos I've ever had.
My sons and I enjoyed our time with Nick. It was the highlight of our trip to Costa Maya!

Booked with Captain Nick last minute from our cruise ship.
The boat was a lot smaller than we had imagined ( no bathroom so plan accordingly!) but we had a blast. Two dads and two kids ( 10 year old girl and an 8 year old boy) and not only did we all have a great time - but we all caught a fish. 3 large barracuda and a mini-tuna!
Captain Nick is engaging and hysterical! He’s got a typical dry British humor - which kept all of us - even the kiddies, engaged!
The seas did get a wee-bit rough, and the sun went away ( bring sweatshirts) but we didn’t care!
Highly recommend!

This place is paradise. The beach is clean and beautiful, the food is amazing and the service is unmatched.
We were at Nacional Beach Club and Bungalows for 2 weeks at the beginning of December. This is our third time to NBC, and I think it was the best ever. We stayed un Universo I, king bed and futon on the top floor. The balcony oversees the water but is secluded enough for privacy. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud.
The staff at NBC is what makes this place unparalleled. Evan, Jose, Willy, Rafael, Ximena, Serena, and Jazmin, et al. (including the housekeeping and kitchen staff) always treat us like royalty. The food is the absolute best in Mahahual. Willy's cocktails bit me in the butt a time or two and were all made with fresh ingredients and quality alcohol.
On one hand, I want everyone who reads this to go to Mahahual and stay at NBC, but on the other, I love the quiet life and don't want to make it so we can't get a reservation!
I give them 10/10

We went out in early Dec 2023 for about 3 hours and had a TON of hits (smart fish, they had lots of snacks!). We caught a really nice Mahi and 2 barracuda. Nick was our capt and was a wonderful, engaging guide. The crew was great; they did the hard work and we had all the fun! After fishing, our catch was prepared for lunch and we discovered barracuda ceviche is DELICIOUS. All around a great experience!

Very small boat with no bathroom. Two guys, did not speak English but did all of the work. Boat "captain" Nick came along, a guy from London, to translate. Very choppy water (in a very small boat) and 2.5 hours of nothing biting. Finally asked to go back early, as nothing was biting.
On the way in, still trolling, hooked onto a 3', 40lb Coronado. Our buddy was able to land it, making our trip much better than it had been for the first few hours.

Mahahual is a very beautiful place in a region that is well known for its fishing. Costa Maya Sport Fishing certainly delivered on the fishing. We caught two decent-sized barracuda, although we had many more "hits" and thus lots of action. After three / four hours out at sea, we returned to the Nacional Beach Club, which swiftly prepared our fish and we were soon digging into a delicious meal of fish fillet and fish tacos. Regarding the logistics: boat is safe and the crew is professional. The boat was captained by a local fisherman. He was joined by Nick, an Englishman who manages the business. We really enjoyed his company! All in all a very positive experience and a great trip.

When fishing excursions were not available through the cruise line I sought alternatives. Based on the good reviews of this company I took a chance here and was delighted. First, Nick Luke was an amazing guide. His conversation and personality makes for a great day on the water. The boat crew were courteous and worked hard to put us on multiple fish. The fishing was great, and my daughter landed a very nice barracuda. We chose the option to have the fish prepared back at the Beach Club. Service was phenomenal, and our Thanksgiving lunch of ceviche and grilled fish from our catch was 5 star. Nick stayed with us through lunch, introduced us to the resort owners’ family, and offered to show us the local shopping or flag us a taxi. I’m so glad we found this group! We will definitely use the fishing guide service again but hopefully get to come stay at their resort as well. We had ample time for three hours of fishing, a great lunch, and some dock shopping before heading back to the cruise ship.

Very beautiful and well kept up establishment. The pros are there right in the middle of the busy shopping area so there is a lot to see while walking around or scheduling a last minute excursion or dive trip. It is not very busy and there is a lot of space between the lounge chairs so you're not on top of each other. The food and drinks were excellent and the service was above average. I had two servers while I was there. I wish I had written down their names. One was a female and one was a skinny male. I will say I prefer this male to the female as he was more attentive Even though the female was supposed to be the primary server. The only con I had was that there was not any extra activities you could do as compared to other beach clubs nearby. There was no option for a kayaking, snorkeling, etc. My son and I still had a good time though.

Rented private boat with Nick as captain. He was a great host for myself and 3 kids. Captain and 1st mate were very helpful as well and considerate. Sea was a bit rough that day and choppy seas were wearing the kids out so we turned back early. Evan hosted at Nacional Beach club and was a great host. Turned a so so day into a lot of fun with the service and good conversation.
