Great cold war museum. Exactly what I expected to see. The 80s era technology was straight out of Fallout. Scary to think this was our last line of defence.

Met up with friends at Hack Green. It was a return visit for the hubby and I, but a long time between visits. Paid our £15.50 entrance fee, and the ticket is valid for a year. Off we went. The first time round, we grabbed our pics. There is lots to see!. We then went round again as there was lots to read.
It is a great location and a great but scary attraction. Scary as in, "What if it did happen?"
A gift shop, cafe in comfortable surroundings, friendly staff, toilets and free parking. A great day out.

Really enjoyed the visit to learn a little more about this secret bunker that played an important role from a WW2 radar station through to a potential centre for regional government in the event of a nuclear war. Having been to a couple of other similar sites before we knew a little of what to expect but each one is totally different in appearance, scale, layout, etc. Hack Green still surprised us. From the small scale, but hugely distructive, nuclear wepons on display through to the cramped conditions that people manning the bumker would have endured (whilst their loved ones were still outside facing the harsh realities of an attack) this place brings home the realities of nuclear war. The simulated attack experience and the BBC information film added to the expereince too. Only by learning from the past can we hope to ensure that history does not repeat itself and a visit her is not to be missed. After the tour to the deepest level there was time for tea and cake and a chat with one of the team who man this place and help to being it alive. Don't miss a chance to visit here if you are in the area. Highly recommended.

Was looking online for something to do and this popped up as a “must do on a Sunday afternoon”. It was interesting, although a little involved for someone with no real interest in nuclear war. Thousands of artefacts to look at and things to read. The nuclear shelter experience would probably be fun for children.

Very expensive for what it was. The route round is clear and well labelled and the use of the cat and mice is a good way of keeping children interested. However there are too many rooms with lots of equipment which are not explained. Some of the more interesting aspects of the bunker were not mentioned. Toilets? Food stores? How were they going to manage for fresh food? The psychological effects of being shut away like this. The human element seemed to be largely missing. I think probably very interesting for those who like machines and early computers. `I’m afraid we were disappointed.

My husband and I visited this bunker when we were in the area. We loved Kelvedon hatch in Essex, so we were really keen to see this one! Also, my husband works in a radiation department in the hospital so he was very interested. Very good value for money, the tickets last a year. Just what you'd expect from a military/nuclear fallout bunker, very interesting, easy to follow the signs, accompanied by an audio tour on Spotify. Staff were very friendly and helpful, cafe at the end and gift shop. Could be cold, so take a coat and sensible shoes, and be prepared that it may be a little dusty but did not take away from the experience, if anything it enhanced it. We don't have children, but there were child friendly activities and we loved "mouse-spotting" as we walked around, great day out.

Excellent day out found it fascinating. So glad it was there during the cold war.
I feel sure that all the electrical equipment there could be replaced today with just a smart phone

Always wanted to visit a cold war nuclear bunker and being in the area for work gave me the opportunity to visit Hack Green. Very friendly staff and a thoroughly interesting place. The bomb simulator was certainly an experience! Nice cafe which served a really good coffee and very tasty cheese toastie. The gift shop had all sorts of things for any budget. If you're interested in this period of history and want a unique experience this is a must!

Cost of group and individual visits
Escrita el 25 de octubre de 2015
All of our up to date prices are on our website under Your Visit and then Admission prices. Unfortunately Tripadvisor doesn't allow us to post a link.
The reason for the increase in price over the years has been due to rising costs of food etc. Also, our staff are all paid employees as we try to create as many jobs for the local area as possible. Every year the wages rise in line with new minimum wage. We have not raised the prices in 3 years now, despite increasing costs. To justify the admission cost we try to operate the best museum possible and safeguard important history for future generations. Also, we hope that you have a really great time!

How long do you need for the visit? Is a full day or just a couple of hours?
Escrita el 25 de agosto de 2015
We advise around 2 hours, although it is dependant on your group. For example, we have a 45 minute film but it is not suitable for children, so if you have children that will reduce your tour in that respect. However, there is a spy mouse tour for children that is quite comprehensive so that will take slightly longer than a standard tour without the film. On average it should take between 1.5-2 hours but can take some time longer.

Hello,
I am planning to go down to Hack Green sometime in the autumn by train from my home town of York. I was wondering if someone could tell me - do you walk round the bunker at your own pace or is it guided tours only like the York bunker and one at Holmpton? I ask because if it is timed guided tours I may need to allow longer for my train times to allow for time overlaps. Cheers, Alex
Escrita el 3 de agosto de 2015
We do not do guided tours but it is a self-guided tour lasting approximately 2 hours.

Is this attraction suitable for a 3 and 6 year old?
Escrita el 19 de febrero de 2015
Hi, I wouldn't recommend this for children under 10. I think they'd find it boring.....
