This si my favourite place to walk, particularly if you head out into the countryside. If you like it peacefull then avoid Sundays.

Picked up this route on the way back from Towersey to Thame. Non descriptive really, just the straight old railway line that originally ran from Thame to Princes Risborough. Supposed to be art structures en-route but they appear run down with no info.

This is a pleasant and easily accessible walk.
It is tarmacked and flat all the way so suitable for all.
It would be helpful if all cyclists used a bell when coming up behind you.

We were on our way to Milton Keynes and decided to stop off on our way to do this bike ride. We parked at the cattle market car park in Thame. Plenty of spaces. Cycled back into the centre and the Phoenix trail was well signposted. A great route. Lots of tarmac, a little bit of rougher ground but it was a dry day so we didn't get mucky. There was also a little bit of the route through a wooded area. All in all it was a lovely route. A few dog walkers enroute and everyone was really pleasant wishing us a good ride. We did 16.5 miles. A great route if you're in that area. Another one off the list

What an amazing amenity! Well maintained, flat cycle track. Also for walking or horse riding (at walk only). Can be joined or left at various points. It is a section of Sustrans 57.

This was an absolutely lovely outing with my 4 year old son on a quiet Saturday afternoon with my son on his bike and me on my newish roller blades until a middle aged Lycra clad couple came up behind us silently and then yelled at me “can we get past” very aggressively. We had stopped for a moment for me to help my son at a narrow part. I moved to the side and said “sorry I didn’t hear you” as I had no idea they were behind me or would have given them a wide berth. I asked my son to move to the left but as he’s only little he went the wrong way, delaying the couple a second longer. The man then started shouting various abuse to me just after he got far enough past for me to respond including “roller bladers are a f***ing joke” which really upset my son as he could tell from the man’s tone that he was angry at me and could see i was a bit taken aback but unable to respond.
I found everyone else we met on the walk so friendly and patient but this incident really shook me up as I was alone with a 4 year old in a vulnerable location and would not have expected a well to do middle aged man and woman to have decided to act in such an abusive, bullying and yet cowardly way to someone who was unable to defend themselves. Clearly if I’d not been with a child I could have caught him up and had a chance to tell him that he was the antisocial one who shouldn’t be on a public footpath and not me. In particular the woman he was with instead of laughing at his behaviour like a teenager could have stood up for me and shown a better example to my 4 year old. What a very sad life they must both have to be unable to be kind and happy on a quiet Saturday bike ride and to try and ruin someone else’s innocent happiness instead. I hope one day karma catches up with them for upsetting a lovely 4 year old boy and a shy woman having the courage to try out a new and slightly embarrassing skill on a public footpath.

Good level route that is a well maintained gravel track. Various places to sit and rest along the route and some interesting sculptures along the way.

Not much happening during the national lockdown but still need to get out for exercise and a breath of fresh air. This walk is easy and on the flat as I needed somewhere wheelchair friendly and not too difficult for me to push.
It was quiet and very pleasant with a few sculptures along the way and nice views over the countryside.

The Pheonix trail is not just an excellent choice for a slow amble with the family and our dog. My morning starts with a cycle from Thame to Princess Risborough as fast as i can go. Early morning is best as there is fewer people walk. The other advantage of this is i see such a variety of wildlife birds, rabbits, foxes and deer.

The trail is flat and easy for young children on bikes, there is a small car park where the road goes under the old railway bridge which is the best starting point,

One of the reviews mentioned people loitering on the trail - where exactly was this?

The Thame section has teenage drug dealers and vandals near or under the tunnels, they set fire to the sculptures and leave broken glass everywhere

Where can I park in Thame near the start of the Phoenix trail

Parking depends on the time and day you go, and at what point you intend to join the trail. At the end nearest the Lord Bill's Upper School in Thame, you could try parking in the school's top car park near the main road on a non-school day, or out of school hours.
Not sure about the Princes Risborough end parking (try looking at GoogleMaps), although you could join the Phoenix Trail in Thame near the old railway crossing near BOC on the 'eastern Bypass'. Near that point is an essentially a private car park for the old Leyland DAF offices, but you might sneak into a space there. I don't think that they use all those spaces for workers' cars as the facility has downsized a lot in the past years.
