The dinosaur tracks are a little hard to find and doesn't have a sign. When you leave Black Mesa Summit there is a dirt road just to the right. You will need to drive down this trail a little ways till you come to a turn around spot. Some of the tracks are just down the embankment area. I might add that the road is one lane and tree lined with beautiful sunflowers. It wasn't a bad road just narrow in places with a few deep ruts. A definite must see!

This is an awesome unexpected and hidden gem. I was coming to this corner of Oklahoma to hike Black Mesa to the Oklahoma high point. It just so happens in trying to find the trailhead, I found a google map marker for Dinosaur Tracks within a 1/10 of a mile from the trailhead.

After I finished my hike, it was a minute drive to parking area for the tracks. I could see the Black Mesa parking lot. From there it is a short walk down to the tracks which were dry and totally visible the day visited. I did not stay long but I was amazing and enjoyable to see.

We took our Jeep to see the tracks here. Although the road was paved in most areas, some of the sections are dirt and you would have to be mindful of ground clearance. The tracks, although not very numerous compared to other places I've seen them, they are very pronounced and easy to see. Very fun experience.

The road to the tracks is not the greatest. But watching my boys "investigate " the query and "discover" dinosaur tracks was worth it.

Right down in the ditch next to parking. Not super exciting, but since you are in the area, you might as well check it out.

The pic featured as I type is of the Allosaurus tracks in a creek bed north of Black Mesa trail. They're amazing. Take the first gravel road north of the trail head (drive something with legitimate ground clearance). Go down the hill and look left. The tracks cross the creek bed. When I went in October it was dry. You can see the three toes in several of the tracks. My kids walked in them. They loved it. I loved it! Nothing else there, but the creek bed and the tracks and there was something wonderful about the simplicity of it. 5 stars!
Dinosaur Quarry is actually about 15 miles south east of the dinosaur tracks. It's a wide spot in a bend in the road, NE of Black Mesa State Park with a concrete replica of a bone that was found while grading the road. It rests atop the hill with no sign or fanfare. Neat to see, not worth stopping at. Apparently other dinosaur fossils were found in the region, but nothing about that is mentioned at the quarry, and there is really no quarry.

Ever since I heard about the dinosaur tracks, I've wanted to go see them. GPS took us right to it. We loved seeing them, got lots of pictures of the area, and enjoyed the scenery and quietness of Black Mesa. It was worth the drive. Just be sure the weather will be Dry because the tracks are in a creek bed!

My sister and I (from VA, ventured out with our mom and 4 children (ages 69-9). Our adventure happened during a flooding season in the midwest. The directions were spot on for us. I will add, since it was wet, from the turn around circle, walk to the path on the right side, down to the creek. The tracks we saw were on the left of the trail in the creek bed. They happened to be submerged in creek water, however we could still spot them. We removed our shoes and splashed in the water just like the dinosaur.
After, we ventured about 10 min more to the tri-state marker (OK-NM-CO)! Super cool for our kids!
Returning home we stopped in Boise City for more roadside fun. We all fit on the Sequoia tree slab, stood by the steel replica of Cimmy, the apatosaurus, touched petrified wood, and visited the Heritage Museum! Great Day for all!

The title says Dinosaur Quarry but shows the picture of the dinosaur tracks. They are 2 different locations. The dinosaur tracks are located about 1/2 mile North of the Black Mesa Trail Head. Just keep heading north on road pass the trail head and on the right will be an unmarked gravel road that leads to a loop by a creek. Just park and walk to the right to the creek bed. You will see the dinosaur prints really easily. If you have trouble finding it just use Google Maps it will bring you right to it.

As for the Dinosaur Quarry it is located about 8 miles East of Kenton on Highway 325 just before the turn south. Not much to see at the Quarry except an empty pit and a replica of a dinosaur bone they found.

We stopped here after our hike on Black Mesa. The tracks are in a dry river bed and are easily seen. It is neat to stand where the dinosaurs stood. It is worth a quick stop if you are out that way.
