We traveled out of San Antonio with a few of our grandkids to check this little museum out. We really enjoyed ourselves. So many different things to see - one could easily spend an entire afternoon there. There was something for everyone. Our 16 year old stated that the military displays and the authentic antique train car were his favorites. The 13 year old loved the period rooms that were set up and the 8 year old couldn't get enough of all the animal mounts. We had planned to eat a picnic lunch before heading back up to San Antonio and because it was such a cold and windy day the lovely women at the front desk invited us to eat in a back room before heading home. All around - a very pleasant experience.

We were passing by this town on the way to San Antonio and decided to stop by the Longhorn Museum. It was free with obviously a donation box and it was definitely worth the stop. For a small town museum it was packed with artifacts, old fashioned exhibits, and history. The new windmill exhibit was open and it was nice. We spent about 45 minutes here. You could see it all faster or you could read about everything and stay much longer.

Grouped together in sections, the Longhorn Museum offers views and impressions of city and country life mainly from the late eighteen hundreds. Included are numerous carriages, stage coaches and a horse drawn hearse. Also, a gun collection, and set ups showing house hold rooms. A restored railroad station and caboose is also featured. The museum staff is very friendly and helpful.

A perfect local museum. It's easy to get to, free to enter, has an interesting collection starting from the early days and extending all the way into the present. Also, it works as a local visitor center too and we got all our questions answered. Fantastic place!

Free to the public. Numerous antiques for such a small museum. Have your picture taken with a longhorn. A room located in the back of the museum contains old wagons and a section of taxidermied animals from around the world. A Union Pacific Caboose is located outside by a antique train station that can also be toured for free.

This museum is part of Pleasanton's history. The museum tell of the local people in the area, from the early days when the town was formed to the present day. It explains how the cowboys built the area and also the local heroes during the wars. There is also one large room with hundreds of mounted animal heads from all over the world that were collected by local people. There is another building on the grounds that was the local train station at one point in history. The museum is also the local tourist bureau. There is no admission fee, but it is by donation only.
