The beach and sand is nice, it's a good and relaxing beach because it's isolated and not too many tourists. But you can't stay long because there is limited access to fresh and clean drinking water and food.

you have to ride a pumpboat going to this island.we need to book it one day before the departure, just to make sure there will be available slot for our reserved time schedule.it is the best beach in mindanao, with the pinkish sand.it is also best for diving and snorkling.

Sta. Cruz Island is composed of 2 Islands (Great and Small). The smaller or Little Sta. Cruz is restricted to public because it is being used as a military camp while the bigger island is the famous pink sand beach of Zamboanga. It is inhabited by small community of Badjaos, open to general public but only on arrangement with the City Tourism Office of Zamboanga. Bancas are the mode of trasportation in and out of the island. Visitors are only allowed to visit the island between 7AM to 2PM only. Pink color of the sand actually due to the broken pink corals that are mixed (by the wave) with the whitish sand. The water is really crystal clean and you can also join the group to see and hold the sting-less jellyfish and enjoy the sandbar. If you are lucky, you can see some small fisherman with newly catch fish which you can buy and you can ask them to cook it for you ...

It was a great time and full of fun for bonding with high school We finally had the chance to actually see and hold the inverted sting-less stingray at the lagoon area. It was well preserved lagoon with great mangrove trees. We also saw the roosting fruit bats in the nearby trees. Unfortunately, we were not able to go deeper inside the lagoon due to low tide.

This was my 3rd time to visit Santa Cruz Island. My officemate/friend treated us for a half-a-day swimming.

Before reaching the island, you need to pay a registration fee and a fee for the boat ride. A safe 15 minutes boat ride from the city to the island is all it takes.

I took some pictures because I cannot control myself from capturing the beautiful nature in front of me.

In between photo takings was an exciting experience of dipping down my body to this crystal clear water and pink sand beach. This place is famous of its pink sand beach. This is because of the mixture of crashed red corals and the white sand that makes the beach sand looks pink from afar.

Just be careful in enjoying the beach water because the current is quite strong.

A half day trip to Santa Cruz Island is a must and worthwhile experience that every local and visitors should make while in Zamboanga City.

Our class reunion brought me to t Sta Cruz Island . was a perfect place to bond with friends. The Island is 15 mins boat ride from the urban Zamboanga City. It is a is a protected area hence, it has no nonsense environmental rules and regulations, But, definitely those environmental policy will not in anyway stop you from having an amazing beach experience,

TIPS
1- Earlier reservation with the local Tourism Office is required prior to the visiit,
2- Beach time is only upto 2 pm
3. I have not notice PWD facilty

We visited the Great Sta Cruz Island for a family reunion. It was a wonderful experience. It's pink sand is amazing. You have to make reservations prior to your trip. The local tourism office gives an orientation on the Dos and Donts in the island. There is also a minimal environmental fee and boat fare. It takes around 15 minutes boat ride. Best if you go early morning because you can only stay until 2pm. Beyond this time the sea gets rough. The island is preserved on its most natural state. I hope they will maintain the comfort rooms. Should be kept clean and operational.

The pretty pinkish sand beach of the great sta cruz island is definitely worth a visit. Clear water, pinkish sand and fresh seafoods. Make sure to have a tour to the lagoon and experience planting mangrove, distinguishing male and female mangroves, touching the friendly jelly fish and the blue star fish (we're lucky to see one). We were able to visit the little sta cruz island - a highly protected sanctuary for sea turtles & other rare marine life. Book your travel ahead of time because there are only limited numbers of tourists who can visit the island per day and limited time only- from 8 am to 3 pm. Enjoy your stay at the Sta cruz island.

Took the Sta.Cruz tour care of our iTravel guide, thank goodness we did not DIY going there. We were able to go on the 8am boat so got to Great Sta.Cruz island earlier than the crowds so we got to choose a nice shed, got to choose fresh catch from local fishermen and asked them to prepare for our lunch. After setting down our stuff, a) we went on a lagoon tour where we enjoyed the sights, learned about male&female mangroves, saw/touched stingless jellyfishes then we b) rode a vinta followed by c) a trip to the sandbar at the Little Sta.Cruz island before d) we headed back to our shed for some swimming and then our seafood lunch!
Found out that most visitors to the Sta.Cruz island just end up staying at the pink beach. Both my wife and I enjoyed the tour - yes, our original goal was to see the pink beach but the tour as prepared by our iTravel Tour guide made it much more interesting/worthwhile - plus, it was a way of supporting the local community!
