What a fabulous find, the collection in this museum is fantastic!! The history, how it is preserved and displayed makes the whole museum feel interactive. The proprietors are just great as well. The tour was more that what we were expecting so glad that we happened upon the advertisement at a local hobby shop.

This has often been called a hidden gem but that's selling the museum short. This museum is more like buried treasure. The amount of detail in the museum can be appreciated by young and old. The museum has classic cars, war memorabilia, a general store and so much more. The stories Carol shared kept leaving me in awe. You will never guess the invention that Carol's dad made that can still be found today. Take the beautiful drive through the driftless area and spend some time with Steve and Carol. I will definitely be back and next time, I'll bring some friends. Call ahead and schedule your appointment, they will appreciate that more than you know!

A gem! Both the tour guide, and the museum. Having been born and raised in the Kickapoo Valley, and explored the Driftless Area extensively I was impressed with my visit to the museum. It is a must stop for anyone visiting the area.

I have really agonized over this review (I actually visited back on November). The museum itself is wonderful, and Carol and Steve are great folks, but the downside for me was Carol's stories. They tended to be pretty down (and, at one point, inappropriately risque), at least to me. I would have appreciated the collection more not knowing about the children she lost or her abusive ex-husband. As other reviews have mentioned, there are many interesting stories without having to hear the "bad" stuff.

This little or not so little museum is amazing and the stories that Steve and Carol tell are so interesting. Every room has a great story right down to Santa's toy shop. They have vintage vehicles perfectly restored, a wonderful general store, and many other fascinating highlights. If you are ever near Richland Center Wisc. be sure to stop.

I have visited the Town of Stevenson Museum twice and enjoyed every minute. Carol is an excellent guide telling personal stories as well as the history of the museum collection. It takes you back in time. The museum is worth seeing!!!

We have visited the Town of Stevenson a few times over a period of several years. Steve and Carol's talent for display and their faithfulness to the period is impressive. Carol is a great tour guide, able to tell the story of their exhibits and the people that they are commemorating. There is a story of a real person they have known and wish to be remember in every room. The antique and classic cars are beautifully kept. The electric train setup is probably the largest and most detailed I have ever seen. It is not just a collection of things. It is a catalog of stories.

We visited the Town of Stevenson on a bus trip with 35 other people. We were amazed at their collection of vehicles, period clothing, antique dolls, and actual rooms. Among their rooms: a doctor's office, a Post Office with the town antique telephone switchboard, a general store, an actual jail cell, barber shop, antique camera shop, fire fighter's bunk room, and a huge model train set. A tribute to our military services has mannequins in their uniforms. There are many autos, including a 1924 Model A Ford Snow mobile, two fire trucks, a miniature John Deere caterpillar tractor, and a rare 1939 Lincoln Zephyr. EVERYTHING is in mint condition, and the whole collection looks like it had been dusted just before our arrival. We have been honored to have Steve and Carol accept a number of vintage items from the 1940's from our family for their collection. This description is just hitting some high points; it takes a visit to really appreciate the many years of loving care that went into accumulating, restoring, and presenting their collection.
