Our family visited Tropical Birdland as a birthday treat for my younger boy who loves parrots. We travelled up from South Wales and stayed overnight at a nearby Premier Inn.
Tropical Birdland is fantastic, reasonable entry price you can buy pots of nuts to feed the parrots. There are also a number of other tropical birds and a meerkat enclosure. And to top it off there is a walk through area with perches with parrots just sat there, no tethers keeping them there, and they do get very interactive. Wonderful place for kids and grown ups, very friendly and knowledgeable staff. There is also a very nice cafe next door, which is outside of Birdland but you are allowed back in to Tropical Birdland if you leave the premises.

don’t be fooled. they say they are free flying but nearly all of them can’t fly as they have there wings clipped. saw one just crash to the ground then get stepped on.

Awww it’s lovely , there’s lots of chances to interact with the birds , places to sit a while , an adventure playground, the birds are lovely and there is a section where there’s lots of different species on platforms, you can walk among them and chat to them give them monkey nuts and they are oh so so gentle when they take them from you, I was just sad because I didn’t know birds got so cold and they were all shivering 😩 other than that I loved it . The real macaw cafe is amazing !

We visit twice each year and have done so for the past seven. To cuddle Neville and his crew of Hyacinth macaws is a total privilage and during one visit he was lying across my chest while I was tickling his neck, he was emitting a loud puring sound just like a happy cat. His crew love Brazil nuts in shells and are adept at cracking them. Walnuts are favourites of every parrot from the little clowns, Caiques, to the macaws and other large parrots. The Alexandrines are always happy to see us as we bring
shelled walnuts which are eagerly devoured,not so ravenous early after opening as they have been very well fed before opening.it takes a full day to really enjoy the visit as tickling a lot parrots takes up considerable time. We are usually some of the first to arrive and last to leave, although we travel from Suffolk. I think that even some people who are not sure of birds will be won over by all the feathered 'babies' at Desford.

What a fabulous place to visit! Went as a last minute Santas grotto option and it far surpassed my expectations. One of the best Santa/Christmas experiences we’ve done and certainly the best value for money. Spent a lovely 3 hours wandering round and meeting the birds - my daughter loved it so much she almost forgot about the Santa part! Will definitely come back in daytime at a non Christmas time of year for the birds themselves. Great value for money for both the attraction and the cafe there. Would highly recommend for any bird lover!

Fantastic place. Their webpage says that it's all outdoors, but don't let that put you off going when there are cloudy skies. It rained while I was there, but there are plenty of places where you can get shelter from a brief shower, including an excellent cafe.
There are plenty of opportunities to interact with a variety of birds, including macaws and some of the birds take the initiative; I was looking into one of the aviaries when I felt a sudden weight on my shoulder and a high-pitched voice said "hello" into my left ear - I had acquired a temporary pet parakeet (?). There is ample parking available.

Simply brilliant! Lots of birds to see, feed, hold and have climb all over you! Some open aviaries. Free to roam parrots. Great play area and cafe and picnic benches too! Great for all ages!

I can’t believe I am 21 years of age and my first time visiting the tropical bird land. How amazing is this place👌🏼👌🏼The bird, budgies, parrots, flamingoes and many more and stunninggg😍😍😍. I would a million % go again! It’s sooo lovely to see, especially on a hot summers day. They have a lovely cafe as well where they sell loads of food for customers. The place is brilliant. It’s family friendly and amazing for children and adults. The scenery is amazing. Cannot complain. The facilities for wheelchair users is also brilliant, there’s easy access to get around and for everybody to enjoy!!!

We had an absolutely wonderful time here yesterday and would recommend it to everyone.
The admission prices were very reasonable for a family ticket, adults, teenagers and children thoroughly enjoyed every minute. All in one food bags were a great price and we enjoyed working out which birds would eat each item and then feeding them.
Highlights were the budgies and the parrot pathway, the look on everyone's faces when they thought they come to the end of the attraction and there they were, all were out on their perches was a wonderful sight to see and we spent a long time there holding all of the birds and being amused by their antics - be warned they will steal the buttons from your clothes!
Staff were also very friendly and approachable.
Wonderful day out and we will be sure to return, thank you Tropical Birdland!

is it wheelchair friendly to go round and entry to toilets and cafe

By and large yes, it is wheelchair friendly.
However if you wish to go on the woodland ‘walk’ then this is a challenge owing to the tree roots and undulations.
