Lovely garden with interest all year round. We try to visit at least once a year. This was our second visit this year. Lovely lunch then out in the sunshine to enjoy the autumn colour /fungi due to all the various trees and shrubs. Still some colour in the flower beds too. Spring - trees, flowering shrubs, plants and bulbs. Summer gorgeous borders as well as other plants. Always like to see what's happening in the well stocked kitchen garden. Parking can be limited after heavy rain. Well worth a visit. Dog friendly.

Hodnet Hall gardens are open for only 2 days a week – Sundays and Wednesday from March until October, plus Bank Holiday Mondays.
The gardens are a delight with several walks around the lakes and woodland areas, most of which are easy, pretty level, gravelled paths. There are some steps which can be avoided.
The gardens were lovely to visit on a nice day in late summer, but I suspect are at their best in Spring and early summer.
Food and drink is available in a café run by two local caterers – Root Food on the day we were there. An excellent, inventive menu with food served in good time even when they were busy. There is indoor seating, but it was a delight to find a table in the adjacent garden area.

This garden comprises a number of lovely different size ponds all neatly interlaced. We caught loads of differently coloured water Lilies in bloom. The surrounding flower boarders also had lots of colour and the rose beds exuded a gorgeous scent. You can’t visit the house, but can walk by the giant thistle flower boarders.

The mock Tudor cafe has delightful drinks and cakes. We sat on the flower encircled lawn for ages, just soaking up the atmosphere on a sunny summers afternoon.

What a gem of a place . Great gardens with lovely walks through woodland and around the lakes . Must be the best kitchen walled garden we've been to . Nice tea rooms with lovely food . Will definitely be back

My mother and I stumbled across Hodnet Hall lost en route to another destination. An annual plant sale was in progress and was well worth the entrance fee. As my mother is elderly exploring the gardens was not an option but worth a return trip alone. My only gripe as is with many UK public places in that offer refreshments is that they are never well organised. There appeared to be plenty of bodies buzzing around but slow progress in the serving department. Customers were queuing on slices of cake while others with only a sandwich were behind them. The drinks were tendered post payment which seemed odd as you have to inform the server what you had just paid for. Next time I will bring a flask and snack.

The Gardens are divine, quite simply just a perfect oasis. The Restaurant and food were great too with lovely staff; even though it was a busy day they were all so friendly.

The only thing that let the place down was the disgusting pond scum covering the main lake. Not only is it aesthetically horrible to look at, but it's bad for the fish and all aquatic life. The water was murky and stagnant too. This was also the case with the other pools; they all had dark brown, murky, stagnant water. Every pool looked stale and unhealthy and I didn't see any fish in any of the pools.

Another thing; we weren't handed a map on entry, which in my opinion is essential for first time visitors. Also, points 1, 2 & 3 on the map were cordoned off! Why? So we had to start from point 4.

Apart from this I had a great day and will return. I really hope when I return the water quality is much improved.

I'd had the recommendation from a friend who'd been two weeks before. It was a spontaneous decision because it was one of those summer Sunday's when England looks its best. It was delightful and I'll go again for sure as it's only 30 mins away.

A last minute decision saw me visit this beautiful garden on Mayday Bank Holiday Monday. The Rhododendron and Azalea displays were at their best. The gardens are beautifully laid out with many pathways in which to lose yourself. It's a photographers paradise. A lovely tearoom with plenty of outdoor seating served a good choice of cakes and light meals, there are toilets nearby. The Hall itself is not open to the public as it is still a private residence.

Beautiful peaceful place. The gardens are magnificent. Peaceful walks around the 3 lakes. It easy walking. The sound of the flowing water and the flowers and trees makes it very relaxing. When you finished your walk you then got the cafe with it selection of fresh food. The cake is to die for., all at a reasonable price. Can certainly recommend a visit.
