We all enjoyed our visit to the London Museum of Water and Steam yesterday - it has something to offer all ages, plenty of real artefacts to see ( including beautifully restored pumping engines), interesting information to read and plenty of fun (but educational) activities and games for children of various ages. Our 4 year old granddaughter particularly enjoyed the water play area outside ( although I think the equipment needs to be topped up with a bit more water to make things work more effectively - I think some of it has evaporated in the recent hot weather.) We had a pleasant lunch in the museum cafe, but there is also a picnic area in a small garden outside if you prefer to bring your own food. There is also a small gift shop. The toilet facilities were very child friendly - child's toilet seat available, low level sink and step small and I noted that spare nappies and clothes could be had if your child had an accident! We came by train - the nearest tube stop is Gunnersbury which is about a 15 minute walk away; our daughter drove to the museum which has its own free car park. I felt that the admission prices to the museum were fair and family tickets are available. I believe you can visit the cafe area freely if you do not wish to see the museum itself. Overall, this was a very enjoyable visit.

Interesting but too many of the " working" models / exhibits are out of order. More suitable for an adult than a child.

Well having visited The Musical Museum the day before it seemed only fair to visit another nearby museum. Once again we had a fascinating morning walking round the history of how humans have dealt with finding water, making it safe to use and disposing of our 'unwanted' human waste. The collection of steam engines and the evolution into electrification of water management is quite something. A brilliant place to take children too.

An interesting museum with lots for children to do to keep them entertained. Lots of water play and hands on tasks. Could do with more bricks and bridge pieces in the water play area as not much sharing going on! Plenty of information for adults. Daughter loved exploring the different rooms and being taller than 120cm loved that she could climb up so high to view from above.

I never knew how much effort is required to supply London with water and to treat the water after it is used. London Museum of Water & Steam in Brentford shows the management of London's water supply from pre-Roman times until the present. It's a very pleasant way to spend half a day.

A gem of a museum.
Fabulous coffee and cakes in the coffee shop, amazingly helpful staff, fabulous interactive displays and wonderful old machinery.
My seven year olds were enthralled for hours by the water play area and it was facinating watching them collaborate with new found friends to make dams, learn about water pressure etc.
The wildlife garden and mud kitchen were an added bonus.

Love this museum. Highly interactive. Great sense of humour. I enjoyed it even more now I'm learning to be a plumber. Massive machinery, stories about poo, things to play with, cafe and cool gift shop, beautiful garden with enormous climbing frame. What more could you want in a day out?

What a great fun place this is, Can ride on a small steam train and see some great steam engines.
Currently there is a small exhibition on how the new Brentford FC ground came about. A really good display.
Cafe limited but adequate.

Will 17 and 15 year old boys like this? How much time should we allow?
Escrita el 24 de febrero de 2018
I think it will definitely be good for an hour, possibly up to 2 for teen lads. There are lots of interesting things. Depends on whether they are willing to connect!
There is engineering, disease control, a mini steam engine plus more!

Thank you for your enquiry, our car park can take about 30 cars so can fill very quickly at weekends. On a Sunday you can park on the road directly outside the gate but the local wardens are very keen to ticket on other days so we recommend parking in the Waterman's car park. This car park is towards Brentford on the left hand side of the road opposite MacDonald's. Its about a 10 minute walk or a 2 minute bus ride.

Hi David,
Yes, we have car parking on site. It is first come first served but during the week there shouldn't be an issue. It does tend to fill up on weekend and special event days.
Best Regards,
Ed
