Will be staying at hotel in April. What is the cost for the water taxi to the airport?. Also what is the cost for a water taxi from the train station to the hotel?
From the “Santa Lucia” Train station in Venice you can either:
1. Catch the public water-bus “Vaporetto” number 1 or 2 right in front of the train station; it will take you to Saint Marc Square (Stop “Vallaresso”) after 40 minutes’ ride (cost 7,50 Euro per person one way). Then you have 5/10 minutes to walk with their luggage and have to cross 2 small bridges. (At the boat stop you often find porters: usually they ask around 30 Euros for 3 - 4 bags).
2. Or you could take only the private water-taxi (there is the water-taxi pier right in front of the Venice’s train station “Santa Lucia”. The price is around 80 Euro. But be sure to take a licensed (the regular one have a yellow flag with a black number write on it) insured boat and be sure that they will drop you off at our private pier otherwise refuse the service: too often they leave the Guests in San Marco Square instead of at our private water-landing and from there you have to walk for 10 minutes with your luggage through the Venetian labyrinth.... and starting the stay in Venice getting lost with the luggage is not a very nice experience.... :-).
3. Or we will be pleased to organize for you a private transfer from the train station: an assistant will meet you at the end of the platform with a sign with your name on it. The assistant will board you in the private water-taxi (already there waiting for you); you will reach our private water-landing after 20 minutes’ ride. Reaching the hotel by boat will be an unforgettable experience. The total cost of the service will be 170 Euro (porterage service not included. If you have more than 1 big bag and 1 hand bag per person there is a supplement of Euro 10. If before 8.00 a.m. or later than 9.00 p.m. there is a supplement of Euro 20).
If suitable, please reconfirm us the service as soon as possible (please at least 5 days before their arrival, providing:
coach number____________________________ if you know it,
expected arrival time______________________ and
a mobile phone number____________________
just in case your arrival platform will be very crowded
Instead, for the way out to the airport, we can call a taxi the same morning and the cost would be 130.00 €. Obviously there would be also the Alilaguna service from San Marco / San Zaccaria to the airport, a public boat that takes about 1.20 hours, but it costs only 15 € each.
We remain at your disposal for any further information you may need.
Not sure about water taxi to airport but was $70 euro to train. That’s private water taxi. The public ones are packed and you still have a bit of a walk from dock to hotel. Be careful of water taxi drivers. When we got to train station he said $85! We told him no the Hotel said $70. Luckily we (and our bags) were off the taxi before paying but he got really annoyed so don’t fall for it. Get off with yr bags and pay the quoted price! They deal with tourists all day so their sick of it and quite rude!
We took the regular water taxi from the S Lucia train station to San Marco Zaccaria for 7.50 Euros. To get from San Marco to the airport, another 7.50 euros for the water taxi to the Roma stop for the bus and paid 8 euros for the bus to the airport.
Note to take the water taxi 4.1 or 5.1 to Zaccaria which is a few steps away from San Marco. They have fewer stops and takes less time than the #2. The # 2 makes about 11 stops vs. 3-4.
The bus does make a few stops before the airport. Allow for time.
It was 119 euro to get the three of us to the hotel from the airport via a private water taxi. I recommend it.
You can opt for a private water taxi with other people to share the cost, but then you have to stand around and wait for the right number of amenable strangers to appear. If you just pay for your own party, then you go on schedule.
In my memory, that ride was as memorable as any fine dinner or souvenir that I might have bought for the same money, and it started our visit on a high instead of with frustration. (My wife just coincidentally made a photo of that taxi ride he Facebook cover photo.)
The ride to the airport was also expensive, but not as expensive - maybe 70 or so? By then I understood that I would be spending money and I stopped fretting over it. We might have been able to share that too, if we had talked to the front desk to make the offer to anyone else from the hotel headed for that train, but the odds are slim IMO. It was a very nice ride exploring the city, very different from the high-speed thrill from the airport. There was no faster alternative IIRC.
Hi, water taxi from hotel to airport is around Euro 190 for two.
As I recall, it was about €130 from the cruise terminal to the hotel and about €100 from the hotel to the airport.
I think the cost from the hotel to the airport was about 60 or €75. I don’t remember the cost from the train station. You can call the hotel they can tell you
Approx 140 Euros
I prebooked a shared water taxi (and printed out tickets which you need in venice) from the airport to San Zaccaria which I found to be the nearest stop to the hotel. To get your bearings, , If you stand on the bridge by the Bridge of Sighs and look up that small waterway to the next small bridge, that is the Hotel Colombina but you have to walk in a circle to get there over bridges and cobbles, so don't bring a heavy case We shared with three other couples and was a speedboat, took approx 40 mins, cost was 70Euros during daytime - more expensive at nighttime . Was nice to get there quicker. Going home we used the local water bus 15euros each, takes approx 1 1/2 hours. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip back to the airport with the local folk stopping at different small islands. You cannot board the water bus without having bought a ticket which you will see the ticket booths on the waterside. They will tell you which one to take back to the airport.
Is highly recommend getting the normal water bus and not the private one as you get to experience how the locals get around and the map and stops are so easy to read! And it's cheap! Yes it will take longer but it's worth it for the experience.
Hi there. I did water taxi straight from airport as it was the easiest way not to haul luggage around and it was $130.. i cant remember the cost from hotel to train station but it was only slightly less. Maybe $90. The hotel srt that one up for me and i prepaid the airport to hotel. Enjoy its a wonderful experience.
I do not know about from the airport, but a water taxi from the hotel to the train station was 70 euros for our group of three with luggage...but it was easily worth it for the lengthy tour of the city, especially coming in. Please let the hotel concierge arrange it for you going out. Enjoy:-)
I’m sorry, we did a driving tour so didn’t take any taxis.
