Hi, We will be traveling here in February with two 6yr old boys. Looking for advice on some great activities to do as a family, with safety as a priority. Would love to know if these should be booked in advance.
There are so many wonderful activities in the Arenal Volcano area for children of their age. The Lost Iguana is a great resort as there are two pools. One is heated very warm, the other is normal temperature. There is a restaurant on site as well. The Arenal Hanging bridges park is fantastic for all ages. having a guide is best as they find and point out the birds animals and reptiles with a telescope. My 83 yr. old mother and I did a river float safari that would be good as well. We even did the zip lining and there were young children doing that attached to a guide. so if they are adventurous they might enjoy that. there are nearby hot spring too.
If you're staying at the Lost Iguana there is much to do around the Arenal area. There are two outdoor companies that provide all sorts of activities, one is family oriented and the other adult. I don't remember the names but the staff at the Iguana can set you up with everything you need. Check out the LaFortuna waterfall as well. The hiking trail that circles around the Iguana property is amazing and reminded me of Jurassic Park. Kids would love it, wildlife everywhere.
the hanging bridges are just up the road 1/2 mile and the hotel will take you there and pick you up for free , i was by myself and wasnt eligible to go on most tours , not to many people when i went , the front desk are very knowlegable and will book for you , no need to book in advance
