hello,
As seniors with arthritis (hip and knees), how easy or difficult is it to get in and out of the water? Are there hand railings along the stairway all he way to the water? If we choose not to swim, are there places to sit and enjoy the cenote and observe ? We are leaving in 3 days to Cancun and plan to stop here after Coba Ruins. We are very excited ! Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer. It will be greatly appreciated.
these are all good reposes, the largest variable is the stair way and your confidence in the water. I was unaware that swimming aids , such as the inner-tube are allowed.
There is definitely no person available for any emergence situation. Also the large above ground cenotes do have caimans and they are dangerous, so don't wonder in to any of those.
This cenote was truly a wonderful surprise and not touristy, which I loved! Getting into the water seemed easy, its the steps going down to get to the surface of the cenote that might be tricky. I'm going to attach a few pics that will hopefully help... Feel free to ask anything
depending on your agility the spiral staircase may be a problem. It is going straight down so you will have to hang on. I guess the best thing to do is find a cenote that has a better access way down to the cave. Also you have to be able to swim well once you are down there. There are no life guards and although i am very cardio fit found the long distances to the dock and back tiring. There is a rope in the water to hang on to but you have to tread water to stay afloat
This is a very relaxed and quiet cenote. I don't think you will have much trouble getting in and out. There is a spiral staircase going down I can't remember if it has a handrail but there is a center post all the way down you can use to keep your balance. At the bottom is a nice large deck with steps that ease into the water. The deck is large and if I remember right there are benches built into it. My wife doesn't swim all the best so she brought an inner tube which she really enjoyed so she could explore the whole cenote with out worrying about saving enough energy to swim back to the deck. I have been to several cenotes and this is one of our favorite. I think you will really enjoy it. You can take your time and not worry about tour guides trying to shuffle large groups in and out the whole time you are there.
