Dear Bluehobbit, Many thanks for your review. It has taken a bit of time to look into your review, to see who serviced the rooms and speak to the staff concerned, so apologies for the delay in responding. We are working to improve all the remaining bedrooms and bathrooms, focusing internally at first and as cashflow allows. We replaced a number of window frames but yes we still have some to do - about 10 frames need replacing. We have made some changes in the business over August and I hope we can get back on track in terms of cleanliness and service standards on front desk. Every penny is being re-invested back into the hotel. We usually receive very positive feedback regarding the food, so your comment that it was "ok" is a worry, along with your other points. In the restaurant I suppose you have the choice to pick the food you think you would enjoy versus the choice for a wedding banquet being a set menu. Most of the rooms are of a high standard and we do consider why and for how long the guest is staying when allocating rooms across the 59 bedrooms. I think we did make mistakes during your stay, having looked into the detail, so please accept my apologies and many thanks for letting us know. Dear Bovril1, Hmmmm, you seem very keen to discuss and alert readers to the competition and offer very little actual feedback in your review. What exactly was it that made you be so negative? I know our hot water is really good in all the rooms and our rooms can't simply be described as very old. It is possible that you received poor service from 1 member of staff but to say that the staff were just not interested shows your disrespect for the entire team working at the hotel. We have a dedicated core of staff that really want to ensure every guest has a great experience and to write them all off and all our rooms off in this way seems a very poor review. Dear Stephen B, Many thanks for taking the time to write your review. In part you seem upset that you may have been able to get a better price and therefore you feel there was a lack of value. The thing you need to understand is that the Hotel fills nearly every weekend, so whilst we accept vouchers the booking window is usually quite early and always vouchers have limited availability and quantity on sale. I can't see much wrong in your review and I do note you comment regarding the tray for soaps and an issue with the cold tap - many thanks for noting the room number that helps me get this sorted straight away. The comment regarding breakfast service is also helpful as we are trying to address this currently as it has been noted on a number of previous reviews. Dear maxpod, Many thanks for taking the time to write your review. We put tea and coffee, enough to make 4 cups, we are always happy to send more up to your room and we refresh the quantity everyday when the room is serviced. I have seen reference to dead flies twice now and clearly it is essential that this is dealt with. We are planning to put in a second bar in the restaurant for Hotel guests, we also have table service for hotel guests. The bar is a size and shape that can make it difficult for more than 2 people to work on at anyone time. Hence the need to add a bar! We are working our way through upgrading the bedrooms. On trip advisor it states free breakfast, I had to pay an additional £25.90, this is totally misleading. Somebody needs to speak to trip advisor to rectify. I will probably speak to advertising regulator. The price of £144 for room 9 is also outrageous for the size and standard of room. You did a really good job of the wedding, as the brother of the bride I expected a bit more.
Dear norris565, Many thanks for bringing this to our attention. We do not offer free breakfast and I have amended the details held by TripAdvisor. Breakfast is charged as part of our package rates on an inclusive basis, if a room only rate is booked we offer breakfast to be added at £9 per person on check in or if you decide at the last minute to come down for breakfast it is charged at £12.95. This is the most expensive way of having the breakfast. We also offer a continental at £6 per person. Many thanks for pointing out the error on the listing. Tony Biddlecombe
