We chose this hotel not only because it caters to motorcycle riders, but it's right downtown. The chain hotels are at the east and west fringes which would necessitate getting back on the bike to go eat/drink. A no-no. Spent two nights as we used it as a base to ride Big Bend NP.
Garage door for the motorcycles will be open, so ride in a take a spot. First come, first serve. It obviously is frequented primarily by Harley riders. But don't let that scare you off if your mount is something else as was in our case. A friendly and tolerant bunch.
The rooms are upstairs over the garage/restaurant/bar. Nice common area with two large tables/chairs. Keurig coffee maker, small fridge. Rooms are a bit on the small side but adequate. Very nicely decorated. As mentioned on the hotel website, rooms can be noisy due music from the watering hole below. That competes with the trains. Ear plugs are your friend.
There's a supermarket a couple of blocks away so one can buy a "picnic dinner" and have it in the common area as we did one evening. The other we ate in the hotel. Food was average and on the expensive side. Service also average/slow. Cocktails weak. (hence the picnic on the second night). There's a nice restaurant next door but the prices were high and the place crowded so opted out.
The best part of staying here though was the location. Both evenings we walked around town on the side streets. Americana at its best. Lots of beautiful murals, older historic buildings and homes. The engineer on the waiting freight train gave us a tour of his locomotive.
Would definitely stay again. Something different.
