Lovely little hotel. The staff are fantastic. So friendly and helpful. The room was as clean as a whistle as was the bed linen and towels . We had everything we needed for a short stay. There’s free parking and it’s situated just a couple of minutes walk from Pontlottyn train station which is on the main line into Cardiff. The breakfast would be hard to beat. All freshly cooked and served with a smile. Perfect. A little gem . Great value. We will definitely return if visiting the area again. Highly recommended.

The location of the Hotel is handy for the Brecon Mountain Railway-a 10 minute drive.
It has 4 rooms and four car park spaces. It’s nothing to look from the outside and it doesn’t get much better when you step inside. But as the old saying goes ‘never judge a book by its cover’. It’s predominantly a saloon bar with a dozen dining tables. The menu is varied and the quality top notch. Value for money is second to none. I had the steak pie/chips followed by jam sponge with thick custard- it took me back to my schooldays(it was delicious). My wife had the Chile. The cost £20. Beat that!
The rooms were on the small side but adequate. The bathroom was pretty small. The downside was that there is little sound proofing- next doors toilet was really noisy.
On the plus side you get a really fantastic breakfast - and it’s ample by any standards. I had full Englishman my wife had scrambled egg on toast.
Another major plus point was the hospitality by the Owners and the staff- absolutely wonderful

We stayed here last night very last minute! Arrived at 11 at night with 2 kids and still felt very welcome as they ushered us in and helped us up to room. Breakfast was cooked fresh, and was absolutley perfect. Cannot fault this place, friendly, clean, good food, outstanding! Absolutey chuffed and would deffo recommend.

We stayed for a night at Lord Nelson as it was halfway through our planned weekend tour in South Wales ( Blaenaven Heritage Train, Blaenaven town,The Big Pit, Caerphilly and Chepstow castles).
Our double room was spotless,had everything what you need for a short stay.
The bed was very comfy with flowered-smell bedclothes, we slept very well after a busy day.
Though we couldn't have dinner there that particular night ( they advised us to eat at Framers Arms just five minute-drive away, it's a must-try when you're nearby, choose duck), the breakfast was delicious.
Staff were kind, helpful, thank you Christine ( the owner) and your staff, we've had a memorable stay.
( the only criticism is that no Internet in the room just downstairs in the pub but as we were tired we didn't miss it)
