Great base camp for hiking Black Mesa and surrounding attractions, or to just sit outside, read a book and listen to the birds. A couple of things not previously mentioned or on website. Delicious tap water comes from a spring on the property, so no need to haul bottled water. The two cabins share a propane grill. No wifi but can utilize cellular data. A couple of CDs are provided, but you might bring your favorite if you want to watch a movie at night. Take time to visit with the owners; they are very interesting people. They have relics on site which you would normally find in a museum. If you get the opportunity for them to take you on a tour of the bluffs, you will see numerous ancient carvings, as well as Santa Fe Trail travelers signatures.

We absolutely loved this ranch! The cabins were perfect and the hosts so very nice! Breakfast was fabulous all three mornings. George took us around in his truck to see wildlife, spectacular sunsets, dinosaur tracks, Native American writings and more! Nice to be off the grid too! Remote but close to Colorado, New Mexico and Kansas. We went into New Mexico to an extinct volcano!

This place is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It’s peaceful and quite just the sounds of nature. The owners are so sweet and we had a wonderful conversation with them. Our cabin was clean and comfortable. The breakfast we had was delicious,. We can’t wait to go back. It’s very close to Black Mesa.

Our stay was WONDERFUL. The surroundings are beautifully natural and rustic. You must view the stars on a clear night from this part of the world----AMAZING!!!! The owners' knowledge of and enthusiasm for the rich history of the area was evident. They were so gracious to allow us to roam the ranch, answer all our questions about some of their antiques, and personally introduce us to some of their cattle--only because we wanted to. Breakfast was delicious and the company so enjoyable.

If you want peace and quiet this is the place for you! We stayed overnight on our trip to hike Black Mesa. The cabins are absolutely perfect. Spotlessly clean they come with a mini fridge and microwave you just need to bring your food. The owners were so welcoming and friendly. I wish we would’ve had time to spend several days here.i would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great place to stay near Black Mesa.
