I spent a week at St Benets Cottage in aug/sept this year with my husband, our 3 year old twins and My parents, the house itself was lovely, bedrooms all very spacious with nice comfortable beds and lovely bedding. The kids loved the snug which was full of toys for them to play with. The location was perfect for visiting surrounding areas and there is a lovely pub serving good food within walking distance.
However, there were clear issues with cleanliness, disappointing to say the least considering we were unable to enter the property until 7pm and had to leave by 9am due to the necessary enhanced cleaning because of COVID-19. On entering the property there were dirty cloths left around the house which we can only assume were left by the cleaners. The kitchen was dusty and dirty, The oven door was stained, the hood extractor was thick with grease, there was hair in the bath plug hole, cobwebs all over the property, the list goes on. With 2 young children and 2 elderly people staying there we had no choice but to clean ourselves to ensure safety.
When we contacted Norfolk Cottages about these issues we were told they needed to contact the owner for their response. A week later I had to chase a response only to be told the owner was not interested which I still find hard to believe but didn’t have the time or energy to argue. We settled on a refund of £50 which is nothing in comparison to what we actually paid for the property.
Such a shame as it was a much looked forward to holiday.
