1. Dangerous living environment with 8 scorpions located in the house and bathroom in three days, not safe for occupants especially kids. We sprayed for scorpions when we arrived and every day we were at the property. Scorpions found on the kitchen counter, in the kitchen sink, in the main living room and in the bathroom, each time we narrowly avoiding being stung.
2. Second bathroom located in the casitas had no hot water, all six guests had to take turns using one shower in the main bathroom. Casitas has a broken and very rusty water heater which the caretaker said has not worked in a long time.
3. Casitas “newly remodeled kitchen” did not have gas to the stove and was not functional, caretaker said gas was empty and not being refilled.
4. Landing and stairs from second floor casitas bedroom had no railing with an 8-10 foot drop onto the side of the hill. Very dangerous particularly at night while trying to use flashlight to go downstairs to the bathroom.
5. Casitas dining area had a 4-5 foot drop onto concrete with no railing making it unusable with kids.
6. Rotten fish found in the freezer on arrival, cleaning staff did not remove it, entire fridge smelled bad which affected the fresh food stored in the fridge.
7. Pool water was cloudy, caretaker had no idea how much chemicals to add to make the pool clear for swimming, we asked him in Spanish as two of the guests are fluent Spanish speakers. As a pool owner, I know exactly how to keep my pool clear and which chemicals to add.
8. Gas pressure on the main stove very low making it very hard to cook any food, flames were so low it was difficult to get pans hot. Caretaker said it was always like that and he had no idea how to make the stove burner flames any stronger. Nearly full gas can was switched to the stove and did not improve the strength of the flames on the burners.
9. 300 stairs up to the property was not revealed until a few weeks before arrival after final payment had been made. The property description has now been updated but when we booked we were not told.
We left after 3 days on Christmas Day of one week rental as it was too dangerous to stay with the scorpions.
